I think you mean "moot". Anyway, the claims are not "moot" because the RX500 has premium gas REQUIRED while the RX350h it's only "recommended". And the RX350h mileage being reported here is almost always, to my knowledge, by people running on regular, getting what the EPA number is. No one here, so far, has reported running the RX350h on premium gas. So you DO have adjust about 20% for the RX500h and RX350 (non hybrid).
HAHAHAHA - Yes, you are correct. I meant moot, not mute. Good catch on the spelling!
As far as adding 20% for the RX500h your logic is completely flawed. This thread is about the RX500h MPG (miles per gallon). Cost does not enter into that equation whatsoever. What you are referring to is fuel cost per mile. In that case a factor would be applied as you state, but the differences in fuel costs (premium to regular) varies widely in different areas. For an example in my area the difference is about 7%.
The real world information of 28.4 MPG shared by ktsaiktsai is exactly the information most of us were looking for.
I don't think this thread is about comparisons between the RX500h & RX350h as it has seemed to devolve to. There is a specific thread concerning RX350h MPG and people can compare as they wish. These two vehicles are dramatically different as it relates to their drivetrain.
Based on your numbers, the car has a less than 15 gallon fuel tank? That seems a bit small no? Is the distance to empty way off and the car really reserves 2 gallons to make sure you dont bottom out the tank?
The distance to empty calculation is off (or extremely conservative). As others have shared the tank is 17 gallons. In the next tank I’m driving past zero DTE and fully expect the RX to keep going. I really just want to affirm I can get 15 or so useful gallons out of the tank which translates into a minimum of 50 miles additional range beyond the 0 mile DTE.
Take that 3.5 V6 in city driving rush hour traffic...its gonna suck down gas
Absolutely, I am getting around 13-15 city MPG on 19 that v6, and HWY maybe 23-24MPG if you keep it under 65MPH, once you go past that it drops right down to about 21 MPG.

Yeah, my 500H got 27 MPG sitting in rush hour traffic bumper to bumper for 2 hours. Thats actually amazing.
Here are my results with my 500h after three tanks of fuel and 700+ miles so far:
RX500h in Eco Mode? 30 MPG. I was astonished as the sticker said 27/28 and I got higher. To be fair, however, I was driving around hilly roads near Ennis, Texas, (sightseeing the annual Bluebonnet fields) and usually didn't exceed 45 MPH.
RX500h in Normal Mode? 25 MPG. I drive this about 50% of the time. My commute to work is a 50-50 combination of city/highway driving.
RX500h in Sport Mode? 23 MPG. I drive this mode when I want to have a fun drive. (I have heavy foot, and I LOVE the acceleration....)
