In our limited mixed in-town/freeway driving it is delivering 25mpg overall average over the first couple hundred miles.

It is continuing to show slight improvement as more miles are driven.

27mpg real world might be true? Time will tell.

Don’t forget to reduce MPG by 20% when comparing to other cars. Because tbe RX500h requires the 20% more expensive premium gas.

Price difference here is $0.30 per gallon ($3.95 versus $4.30). 7.5% delta. I’m happy with the extra zoom 500 brings. I’m not really worried about price of gas penciling out when driving a +$70K out the door vehicle. To each their own based on your needs.

Here it’s $3.90 and $4.60. 19% more. And while I agree that gas is only an incidental cost for people owning $70k vehicles, that’s irrelevant to the issue of “RX500h Real World Fuel Economy”. On my area, premium fuel is about 20% more. So regardless it you are rich enough to burn money or not, the RX500h fuel economy has to be adjusted downward by that amount when comparing MPGs to the RX350h and most other cars that display MPG assuming regular gasoline. .

Default RX500h MPG

Just to share my first MPG report for my 500h:
  • Distance to Empty 47 miles
  • Trip meter 371.5 miles, filled up 13.075 gallons.
  • ECO mode, Climate AUTO at 70F, (NCal) at 50F-60F driving condition
  • Hwy/Local ratio 85/15
  • Hwy speed avg 65 to low 70s m/h
This is 28+ mpg and at the high side of the spec, much better than I thought.

That's really good for the car being new. I just bought the RX 350h because I really wanted to see my MPG in the high 30s. And being retired, I didn't really need the sportiness of the 500h. Congrats on your car, and I hope you'll update us on the MPG as the car wears in.

Thank you. And congrats on your new car too.
This morning I tried the SPORT mode on my way to work, a 16 miles drive with Hwy/Local 80/20 ratio. While I do enjoy the swiftness and the "engine sound" from the speaker, but notice the avg MPG in the trip summary dropped more than 20%+ vs the days in ECO mode, which means the MPG in SPORT mode will be 22 or lower.
I will share new finding after collecting more data.

Anything has to be better than what I am getting currently on 2019 F sport. Only advantage is now I can use regular fuel, but still, I only get maybe 15MPG with mix driving and even if I am taking a long road trip once I go past 70MPH for long stretches it goes down to maybe 21-22MPG.

I am averaging about 23-24mpg mostly local city streets and about 20% of highway driving. Mostly at normal driving mode on local city streets, eco driving mode on highway and sport on industrial areas at less than 5% of driving. A big drop mpg from our previous Rav4 xse.

Based on your numbers, the car has a less than 15 gallon fuel tank? That seems a bit small no? Is the distance to empty way off and the car really reserves 2 gallons to make sure you dont bottom out the tank?
