Default 07 rx400h car completely dies while driving - P3105

This RX decided to do this fun little thing where it just shuts down completely, while driving, so we have to pull over immediately turn it off and back on, then we can drive away like nothing happened. It has happened about 5 times in the past few months. Dealer found the p3105 error code and wanted $900 to remove the back seat just to inspect the battery looking for water or corrosion (apparently a known issue). We did this ourselves but didnt see any water or corrosion - not positive we looked in the right spots but at first glance it all looked fine.
Any ideas on what we should do/try next?
I've been down the road of replacing hybrid batteries before on my gs450h (used greenbean and had good success) but want to be sure that's the actual issue before shelling out like 3k.
Thanks!

Has this recall been done on your car?

I watched the video with diagnose Dan...is the equipment he has (scanner/oscilloscope) "standard" for mechanic shops? I definitely dont have it so not sure how'd id go through all that. Might check the prices on the blowers and just replace em if they are cheap enough or cheaper than a dealer visit at least!

The recall was for a certain VIN/year range after that no recall was needed. By far the most common thing that causes this is bad hybrid battery fans they corrupt the CANBUS signal going between the low voltage and high voltage system. Also the 12 volt battery should be load tested.

Don't have the watch the whole video jump in to about the middle. Most any decent shop will have a scan tool capable of viewing waveforms.

Also curious if the p3105 causes the whole car to turn off? Didn't seem like that in the videos so just wondering if the p3105 is just another code/issue in addition to the car dying while driving.

Seems like that code does cause the car to shut off, not by design but no communication means the computers don't know what to do. Quite a flaw actually there should have been code to put the car in limp mode.

I just watched the whole video posted above by lex2k and enjoyed it.
Tech covers so many important things, here are a few.

1) Shows the alldata tech info about how the "CAN bus" style lines should look on the scope(nice and clean). This protocol is noise tolerant to an extent due to the differential line driven style output(termination loaded) with it's compliment shown as 2 waveforms.

2) Notices when the cooling fans are turned on, the data waveform on the scope is noisy and appears compromised. This is not enough(as he knows) to say for sure if it is causing the vehicle to stall but it is a problem that will need to be addressed very soon anyway. The cooling motors are dying.

3) He notifies the customer and lowers their expectations by informing them a cooling fan fix may not 100% solve their problem. Why, because it's an honest answer that nobody can know but one thing is sure, they need replaced anyway. The noise witnessed on the scope looked bad but the the other ecms that are involved in the data transfer only care about is proper voltage level transitions between V(high) & V(low) and even with the noise it was a hard call to make. Good move to let customer know that.

Looks like I can get these for $98 each so ~$300 to replace them is likely going to be cheaper than having a shop diagnose it?

Anyone have experience with that site or see an issue?

They seem legit
https://www.scamadviser.com/check-we...nuineparts.com

But when you go to the contact page you get a drop down for several dealers, what's that about?
https://www.oemgenuineparts.com/contact-us
for example
https://parts.moderntoyota.com/produ...rm=G9230-48010
Slightly more expensive. Dunno what to think of oemgenuineparts.com it's probably fine. Add everything to your cart and see what shipping is like.

No. But they are a brick and mortar Toyota dealer so you're safe.

Absolutely, I'm all about preventative maintenance and see no problem with wanting to
replace the cooling fans before running up a big bill for diagnostics.

Like the video above shows(worth watching), a shop can't really "diagnose" the stalling
condition when you bring in the car running fine.

All they can do is make an educated guess like seen in the video above.

Also, I recommend going with oem fan motors on a job like this.

There may be a pattern develop for these hybrids that could suggest the fans
should be a recommended preventative replacement item.

Just for fun so we can document plz:
What is your mileage?
Climate?
Percentage of hwy vs city driving?
Are your batteries original?
