07 rx400h car completely dies while driving - P3105
Thanks - got em ordered.
137,500
Midwest (cold winter/hot summer)
70 city/30hwy
Yes
That being said, I purchased the vehicle not long ago (April 2021) so I dont know much of its history. From what I remember it was a single owner previously. I did get the timing belt/chain replaced as routine maintenance as it was long overdue and wanted to get the car back in good maintenance order - I bought this for my daughter (21).

I finally got the parts. Anyone know of a video or how to disconnect the high voltage system so I can replace the fans safely? None of the videos ive seen have removing the seats and getting to the actual fans.
Ok I found this link with instructions -
I got everything out and made it to 4:50 where it says to use insulated tools or it could result in death # ; ) I has no insulated tools. Granted - this is how to remove the entire battery, where I just need to remove the cover to replace the fans.
Thoughts? I'm all about DIY but obviously the high voltage stuff is a bit scary. I DID disconnect that orange safety plug thing and its been well over 5 minutes..but guessing like any battery it still holds some form of charge.

Update.
Spoke to a bunch of people who said the insulated tools and all the warnings were likely to just prevent a lawsuit. SO, bit the bullet and got it all taken apart and replaced the fans!!
Now we wait! Since it would only happen on occasion without any rhyme or reason we just gotta drive it and see what happens!

Insulated tools are not a gimmick and provide much needed safety especially for accidently touching or grounding or arcing, etc across something.
I've worked on high voltage and been "bit" many times(240 VAC) and know what it feels like to get hit with 400 VAC volts(Twice!) and felt it hit my heart as I barely leaned my sweaty arm on a circuit board with machine powered on. I was younger then but I don't think my heart could take another hit like that today and I'm lucky to be alive.
Add- I realize that was VAC and not DC voltage but plz consider you can Weld Metal with high volts/amps DC.
Plz, this is no joke and they sell high volt insulated electrician screwdrivers at Lowes and HD, not sure if they met the voltage specs or not but might be worth looking into because all it takes is one slip or oops with a tool.
Add- plz let me add this is not directed to the OP and their hard work and contribution much appreciated and not saying whether insulated tools are needed for the cooling fan job or not, just disagreeing a little about what others told them. High volt connections should always use insulated tools or at least know and beware the risks to oneself and one's property. that's all.

I have Had same issues yesterday, on 2006 RX400H, engine shutdown, all dash lights on, managed to stop the car. I was able to start engine again a few minutes after. Engine check and check hybrid system was on during driving. After deleting code P3105 mentioned checks disappeared and all systems is working as it was before. I have read quickly whatever I count find and mainly all are pointing to the fans for hybrid batteries.
no I am a bit scared to drive the car. Have you got any suggestions from anyone?
