Default GS300H starting problems

Hello everyone,

I was looking for advice on my 2017 GS300H.
Its recently developed an annoying problem; occasionally it will not start & move off for me.
All dash lights illuminate ok, but the car will not move.

It only happens occasionally, and it takes 8-10 times of pressing the on/off button before it finally starts up and moves away.
When it eventually corrects itself, I know its going to move because the "ready" symbol finally comes up in dash and the car is fine then.

It sometimes happens in the morning, after being parked up overnight, other times it happens after a drive when the car is fully warmed up. There is no set pattern to the fault that I can see.

anyone come across this problem?
thanks,
Trevor.

If it doesn't say something along the lines of "check hybrid system" or whatever, then the only thing I can think of is that you're not holding the brake pedal until READY pops up - or something along the lines.

I agree. Sometimes I haven’t pressed the start button for that split second long enough. I usually do the two step method for some unknown reason of pushing the start button, waiting for everything to come on, then the brake hold start button to start the engine. Maybe it is because with a key ignition I would pause when turning the key to start the crankcase. But never 8 times to get the ready light to come on. Sounds
Ike a service call is needed as something is not connecting

Get the car scanned with techstream or other tool.
This to see if there is stored anything relevant.
This could avoid some guesswork.

Sounds like your 12v battery doesn’t have enough juice. The dash lights coming on doesn’t mean there is enough current to power all the electronics.

Hi All

I have a 2018 GS300h which drives perfectly, but occasionally I cannot get it to start.

I enter the car, put foot on the brake, press the start button, sometimes the dash lights will come on (no ready light) seat or steering wheel will not move. When this happens I have tried various methods (1) switch off and start over again (2) switch off and move gear selector up and down (maybe a connection not being made) and repeat the start procedure. Sometimes seat and wheel will move but no ready light. Eventually the ready light appears and the car performs normally. It has been into the dealer and they struggled to replicate the problem and can find no fault. The 12v battery has been tested and is ok, keys have been re programmed by the dealer. Grateful for any thoughts or suggestions, thanks.
