I find the door armrest useless because it is so far forward, i can only use it if i push my seats up (I'm 6'4)
True but for people who are short like 5'2" like my wife the arm rest is too far back for her to use. Apparently Lexus models this car off of the average hight of an american citizen because at 5'10" this arm rest is in optimum position for me. I have no issues getting confortable with this car. It is on par to my 2006 Lexus LS 430 i use to have.

I'm 5'11 & the actual positioning of the GS door rests for most people (as it relates to the elbow & forearm) isn't the problem, it's the fact there's really no support whatsoever to rest any area of the arm due to the sloped design & limited padding.

Driving a 5 speed stick shift for the first 10 years of my driving experiance I have learned to drive with my left hand on the wheel while my right hand on the shifter. So i rarely use the door arm rest. I do use the right center arm rest. The other way I drive is both hands on the steering wheel at 9 and 3 o'clock only when I am racing on a track. Even in this steering configuration I still did not need to use my left arm rest. So my left arm rest is in mint condition and I am still 100% comfortable in my car. Why dont you guys try driving with your left hand and resting your right arm on the center console?

I also drive with my left hand and lean right. Anyone who has driven straight drive for any period of time naturally has a habit of driving with the left hand on the steering wheel and leaning slightly to the right. I experimented by leaning left and it felt all wrong. Maybe some people here like hanging out the driver's window when they drive...
I've noticed that and I hate it. I feel like one day the dents aren't going to disappear
I have noticed the dents/wrinkles too. I have owned various Lexus models from IS to GS and never had a problem with the door armrest wrinkles. I've had my 15 GS for a little over a month and noticed the wrinkles last week. Now I've tried to shift how I sit to not increase the wrinkles. I hope this doesn't become a permanent problem over time.

Ditto, so it doesn't bother me either.

While this would be an alternative, it can be really hard for folks to change their driving stance/habits. Just as I wouldn't like driving the opposite way (right arm on wheel)
The tweak to the left handrest is a minor one, and would decrease the few 'issues' with the car. (third world issue or first world issue - it is an easily fixable issue for future cars, and there is no reason to not continue to improve).
Your right, It is smaller then in my RX. It is annoying sometimes but I've learned to get use to it. Also mine keeps leaving temporary dents in the padding where my elbow rests right near the window. Takes an hour or so for it to disappear.
I got a CPO and the front passenger dents/creases on the armrest came with it and never disappeared. Small quirks that I have to live with buying a used car.
