Default Gas Cap Question

I tried searching for an answer to this, but no luck....hoping you guys can help.

I had a 3GS previously and wondering what everyone does to keep the gas cap from hitting the paint when filling up the 4GS?? The 3GS had a built in hook to rest the gas cap in.

Also, inside the gas door, there is a (for lack of a better term) circle that looks as if a tube can be stored in it. Wondering if this is a built in area to keep things....

Any thoughts/comments would be appreciated.

I occasionally put the gas cap on that cylinder that is on the gas tank door, but even otherwise, as long as I carefully let the gas cap hang down, it doesn't seem to touch the car paint.

That round plastic receptacle is there to put your gas cap on when refueling.

Thanks.
