Default Missing filler flapper???

I just noticed (wife's car) while filling up "my" GS3 with gas, that there is no flapper in the filler neck hole. Is that how it's supposed to be? In other words, when I unscrew my gas cap, I just see an open hole. The gas nozzled goes straight in and it doesn't have to move a little flap out of the way.

Not quite sure what you mean. If by 'flapper' you mean one of those things that holds the gas cap when you unscrew it, then mine doesn't have one of those.

My don't have it either. I think they get rid of the flipper because the gas cap will seal it. In older car you will have a metal plate(door) for some reason.

Bitkahuna,

I'm talking about the hole (about 1 " diameter) where the tip of the gas nozzle sticks in when you fill your GS3 up. Every other car I've owned has a little metal spring loaded flap that seals that opening until you stick the fuel filler nozzle in there. If I unscrew my gas cap and look where I'm gonna stick the fuel nozzle, I see an open 1" hole with no metal flap covering it. On my '98 LS, there is no "open" hole. It is covered with a little flap that gets pushed open when I insert the gas nozzle.

Does this make sense????
