Default How to add USB

Anyone have ideas on how to add a USB and/or Aux ports? Want it to look nice obviously. Have seen a vendor called vaistech but not sure if there’s other options. I have an 07 GS350

Factory USB and/or Aux port, no. The headunit and wiring are different.

The only option is Vaistech or Grom Audio. There may be other models but these are the two well-known ones.

I second that. I looked a few years back and every thing other than Vaistech or Grom seemed a little 'off' in terms of quality. I will tell you this is the kind of thing you don't want to skimp on. I've had my Vaistech for a few years and never had an issue. If you do get a cheap one that is unreliable or has issues, you'll be taking apart your dash and console to pull every thing out on a regular basis. I would also consider buying the right one. I bought the 30-pin iPod cable because previously, I had only used a 120gb iPod to store all of my music with that being the largest storage device Apple actually made. Today... I have a 256gb phone which is crazy to me. Regardless, I wish I had one of the Vaistechs that also had aux input (more expensive).

So how do these get installed? It's been bothering me that my car doesn't have an AUX port or a USB. I actually just found this video (
) and it pretty much answered all of my questions. I'm guessing there's going to be 2 cables, an AUX cable and the phone charger cable (I actually would need a micro USB since I have a flip phone) but I'm pretty sure I'm going to get and do this this summer. Thanks for the info guys.

I find it hard to believe that video is from 2012 and not the late 90's with the sound effects and the wordart.

I installed the VAIS USB/Aux unit in my ‘07 GS350 a few weeks ago, but ended up returning it for their Bluetooth streaming unit instead. Navigating my music library (stored on a 128 GB thumb drive with Artist/Album file structure) through the radio was really clunky and would’ve required me to create hundreds of playlists if I wanted to be able to listen to entire albums from start to finish. I also found the user interface with the factory radio to be confusing and not at all intuitive. I’m very happy with the Bluetooth streaming unit so far even though it doesn’t have an Aux port, which is pretty redundant assuming your music is on a device with Bluetooth audio streaming capability. The sound quality is terrific, and I'm very picky about audio.

To be fair, my experience is based entirely on using a USB thumb drive; the experience using an iPod or iPhone may be different/better, but I can’t speak to that. Either way, they’re both ridiculously easy to install if you’re comfortable using basic hand tools. You’ll need a socket wrench, phillips head screwdriver and plastic trim removal tool from your local auto parts store (or a screwdriver wrapped in duct tape if you’re willing to take the chance of damaging the center console wood grain). The unit can be tucked away into a vacant space behind the radio, and the whole job should take less than an hour from start to finish.

I went the cheap way and got a cigarette 12v fm transmitter. Put it in the port in the center console and tuned the stereo to its frequency. I can play all my music from my iPhone and make calls. I still want to get the device that mirrors the iPhone screen to the head unit screen, but this is good enough for now.
