VAIS Technology has the best iPod integration solution.

RandalR - Very helpful. Do you have one of these already installed in your GS? If so, where does the box sit in the car and where do you place your ipod?

Thanks

I don't have one (yet), however I recently had a chance to peek through the window of Joe Montana's (yes, that Joe Montana's) Black/black GS450h, and he has this unit or one very much like it. The iPod was mounted on a little stand behind the cupholder door. It might have been a custom job, but it looked very usable. Everything else is mounted behind the dashboard - they just run a cable through the storage box under the center armrest.

I have the VAIS SLI unit and it's great. I don't think I'd be able to live without it anymore. Installation is simple and it's easy to use. Looks and feels like factory integration. I mounted the unit behind the navigation screen and routed the cable which connects to the iPod inside the glove box. No visible wires anywhere and the iPod is safe and secure in the glove box, which you can lock when you go out.

I'll have to look into that VAIS integration..sounds like a clean setup. I don't believe they didn't offer the AUX input but offered it for the IS

I, too, can vouch for the SLI unit. I'll never go back to an FM transmitter!

A neighbor of mine told me it was his - and I verified it a couple of days later at the local dealership, where I was told he had brought the GS450h in for some work the same weekend. So Joe is on the 3GS team!

Yeah this bugged the crap out of me too, so I came up with a pretty crazy solution to make it look factory.

I got the Vaistech auxiliary box, since I prefer operating my iPod with its own interface and had an audio place connect it to an AUX mount from a Scion xB, which fits perfectly in the blank plastic plate that the adaptive suspension control occupies in the 430 and 450h. It looks 100% factory, and I can power the AUX port on and off through the stereo interface. Woot.

All in all, I'm thrilled with how it looks and sounds, so that's a possibility if factory appearance is important.

Don't let it hold you back from buying a great car, there are great solutions out there for iPod integration .

that sounds pretty cool. Do you have any pictures of your setup? If you don't mind, how much did you cost you in all? I really like that fact that you mention it looks factory. this is very important to me. thanks!

That sucks! All the other models have the MP3. Did they forget to add that?
