On the Akebono's, you do NOT need the Lexus shims because the Akebono pads come with shims attached, right? I can not remember, but think I used them on a LS430 and installed the pads without using the lexus factory shims and the Akebono's worked great...

We are a vendor on this forum and I can help you out and offer you our new Carbon Geomet rotors for your GS if you're interested. I know most use the Centrics blanks with the black electro coating since these are popular. Our Carbon Geomets are made out of the same metallurgy as the Centrics but the the only difference is the rust protection coating are our rotors are "fine-turned". The Geomet coating on these rotors are stronger and does last longer compared to the black electro coating on the Centrics. Meaning that they do hold up better in conditions where salt is exposed as well. Overtime the black electro coating on the Centrics tend to wear out and turn brown overtime and these be stay the same. If you're interested in knowing more about these rotors, below is a link to our thread for more information:

How is your quality, longevity and pricing compared to the Centrics?

Our Carbon Geomet rotors and the Centric rotors with the black electro coating are both made out of the same cast iron metallurgy. Pretty much both are the same quality in regards to the material and casting of the rotors. What makes our rotors slightly different is that ours are "Fine-Turned" and have a different rust protection coating which is a Geomet Coating. Here's more information about Fine-Turned rotors and Geomet coating as well from our vendor thread:

"The castings are sent to our state of the art machining facilities, where each rotor is machined to the tightest tolerances available in the market today. We can guarantee specifications of .010mm disc thickness variation (DTV) and .050mm maximum lateral runout. Though in practice, we regularly achiece .007mm DTV and .025mm maximum lateral runout. Then, the rotors are fine-turned to a maximum of 1.6 RMS. The objective of these strict tolerances is to create the smoothest possible finish, which improves initial break-in due to the increased contact between the pad and the rotor."

"Finally, we apply a genuine GEOMET finish throughout the entire part, which promises to deliver superior corrosion protection. The GEOMET coating is processed dry, shipped dry, and ready to install without any additional preparation. An average brake job takes 1.25-2.5 hours per axle. Without the need to clean an oil covered rotor, this saves a tremendous amount of time and money during the installation process.

-Ready to install- No additional preparation needed. Saves time and money during installation process.

-Superior Corrosion Protection- Provides excellent cyclic corrosion performance when tested according to automotive manufacture's test methods incorporating heat, salt spray (withstands 400 hours), and humidity (SAE J2334, GMW 14872, Ford CEPT: 00.00-L-467, Asian CCT).

-Environmentally Friendly: Meets the following regulations: Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Chrysler CS-9003, General Motors GMW 3059, Ford WSS-M99P9999-A1 (Hex 9), the EU Directives on End of Life Vehicles (ELV) and Electrical Equipment (RoHS)."

With the Centric rotors, these sometimes or most of the time have a type of oil covered on the rotors which it to prevent it from rusting while sitting in the boxes. As for longevity of the rotors, it's really hard to say how long they will last since it all depends on the drivers driving style. For example in the past, I've had a customer from Colorado with an F250 that's driven over 60K miles on our E-line rotors which are more comparable to the OEM rotors. Regarding pricing, a front and rear set can range around $200 for just the blanks depending on the year of the GS. Going with a drilling pattern will be an additional cost.

You're welcome! I saw that there were quite a few members using our product which is why we became a vendor on this forum. We're also popular on other forums such as the cts-v, camaro ss, bmw 3-series, chargers/challengers as well.
