Default Help Guys!!!!

I have a problem! I have only had my 07 gs awd for less than 2 months. I noticed this morning when I turn my wheel all the way to the left or right it makes a grinding or like metal on metal noise. My breaks were done only a year ago, and this noise only happens when I'm turned all the way to the right or left. Can somebody tell me what they think the problem is, and how much to fix!?! Thanks!!

check the power steering fluid level, also keeping steering turned all the way for a prolonged period of time is NOT good for any power steering car, it can damage the power steering pump.

Yeah I never actually do that for a prolonged time. I just noticed it today pulling up to a gas pump. I purposely did it once I got to work just to see if it was happening to both sides. Power steering you say? Also it's -20f here with the windchill, I don't know if that has any bearing on anything.

I am not 100%, maybe 99% but our cars have electric power steering, therefore, no need for fluid.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

You are right... it is totally electric, I thought the pump was electric rather than pulley off the engine, but no, the whole system is electric. Good to know.

So in that case it can be noise from power steering gear, no clue what you can do about it or go about diagnosing it.... doesn't look serviceable

Hmmmm bummer, well I guess it's off to the dealer then. You would think something like that would be noticed and fixed before they turn around and sell it to someone else. I really didn't expect to be in the shop less than 2 months after purchase!!

It is most likely the bearing which has been discussed here before. Jack the vehicle, grab tire at 12 oclock and 6 oclock and move back and forth. If play is present, bearing issue. Also spin tire and hear for and resistance/slight grinding.

If you had FWD car, the other issue could be CV joint but not the case here.

Check this first.

Since he is AWD he has all of the FWD components that could create such noises.

Ok so just got back from the dealer. Turns out there are protective plates that are behind the front rotors that came loose or miss positioned causing it to rub when my wheel is turned all the way to either side. Being that I have the worst roads in the country and we are experiencing the worst winter since the last ice age, either of these factors contributed to these plates being off. The dealer took care of everything, didnt charge me a penny and I got a free breakfast and carwash! talk about customer service!! anyways thanks for all the suggestions everyone and Im glad i didnt have to come outta pocket any money! shoutout to my service team at Meade Lexus of Lakeside whoot whoot!!
