Glad to hear your problem is solved. How much did that cost with tax and all?

Just replaced the my tranny on 2006 GS 300 a little over 100K. I was getting a jolt when the car slowed down to come to a stop. I got it back its doing the same thing I am going to send the ECU to get repaired.

That was an expensive mistake.

I had the same issue. Spent $1800 on a new updated Ecu for the transmission at 215000 miles and the car drove perfectly for another 15000 miles then the car wouldn’t shift past third gear. Ended up getting the transmission rebuilt as I’m giving the car to my daughter and would rather spend $3800 on something I know is reliable versus 4-5 grand on someone else’s used car that will need god knows what within the first month of ownership. By the way mine is a 2006 gs 430 that I’ve owned since new and was driven exclusively by my wife.

I do have transmission problems I think because nobody changed the fluid ever in 217k miles. Something with the lock up solenoid, I think the lock up isn't disengaging sometimes, causing a crappy acceleration. And the car sometimes stalls going from r to D because the lockup stays engaged maybe?

I wanna replace the lock up solenoid and filter soon.

Btw before I changed fluid and added Lucas the tranny would do the infamous shudder when the car was trying to accelerate with the lockup unnecessarily engaged now it will at least pull. I do my best not to lug the engine in the meanwhile.

took off my exhaust and intake and the car seems to run smoother..... but asked for the transmission flush and it will cost me about $260 and $89 for the rear diff fluid.,. debating on doing this.....

Did you end up changing the rear diff fluid? Has the car been running well after the transmission flush? How did taking off the exhaust and intake fix the problem? Did you mean you replaced the exhaust and intake?

I purchased a 2006 GS300 two months ago. It seemed fine until I took it to an exhaust shop looking for the clunking noises under the car. After they "test" drove the car the Traction Slip light and the Check Engine light were on. I had the transmission fluid changed, not flushed. The fluid was black and thick. The car has 104K miles on it. The next day I bumped a curb and those same lights came on again. I had transmission checked and it threw 19 codes. The mechanic "checked all the grounds and connectors and reset the codes". They did not reappear after his test drive yesterday. His suggestion was drive it and see what happens. If the problem comes back, his next step would be pull the pan and look for metal parts. I know this does not help you find a solution but you are not alone. This is my first Lexus and I am not impressed.

I drove the car about 20 miles when the transmission stopped shifted above third. I let it sit a couple of days and then decided to check the fluid level.
Stone cold about 1/2 a quart ran out of the check tube. So maybe my mechanic over filled it some. I am going to try to get the ecu into the Transmission Temperature Check and get the tranny to the right Temperature and check the level again.

Sounds weird why would hitting a curb mess with a tranny like that? It would either destroy your car completely or do nothing

19 codes just for the tranny?? Id check all the big harness connectors

I agree. It doesn't make sense to me. I didn't hit the curb hard enough to bend or break anything. The last mechanic that looked at it thought the number of codes didn't make sense either. He checked for loose ground connections and connectors. I'm going to drive a couple more days and then check the TCM again.

The gs300 is one of the most unreliable Lexus around. It wasn’t sold for very long in the GS lineup.
