GS transmission problems?

Have you had any transmission problems with your GS? If so, how many miles were on your car? Any input would be greatly appreciated, especially if you have a GS with high miles & NEVER had tranny issues.

2005 (2006MY) GS300 here with A960E transmission and closing on 100k miles. All good...... (furiously touches wood).

benbuilt4u 02-21-12 08:46 AM

only issues have been in the gs350's as far as ive seen

Thanks for the input fellas! Can anyone else chime in? The more GS' WITHOUT tranny problems & high miles, the better...

Arantant 02-21-12 10:45 AM

65k miles no issues in 2007 GS350... but I guess that's still low miles...

patricksr5 02-21-12 12:35 PM

75K miles on 2008 GS350 and no issues.

masboy 02-21-12 12:37 PM

mine is 06 GS430 / 124k miles / no issues so far. **knock on wood**

2006 GS300 AWD with 95,000 miles on the clock. The tranny is solid, just doesn't like real cold days. Needs to warm up a little on the cold morns.

So, if tranny is a weak spot on 3rd gen GS, does it make sense to install external transmission oil cooler or perform ones a year trasmission oil flushes?
I usually do it on most of my cars. What do you think?

keep in mind 3GS has both 6 and an 8 speed tranny.

i think my 06' gs300's tranny is going out. check vsc light came on and car won't shift pass 3rd. tried a transmission fluid flush and same problem came back within 30 miles. has anybody else had this problem? it only has 94,288 miles!

I had my transmission replaced on my gs350 at 68k miles somewhere around there, it just started pouring oil out after a 30 mile drive, lexus said it was just a defect and replaced it. I have heard few gs300 had issues not gs350. Gs350 only has 6 speed transmissions, lexus trannys are knwon to be bulletproof and reliable.

I met an elderly man once who was driving his 90 Ls 400 with 400+ k miles .
Original motor and tranny. Original owner too.
The only other car that could do that is a Lincoln town car. Dad had 2 in his fleet that got to 450k on original motor and tranny. Some legend says MB cars can do that too, but I think it's a spook story.

Yes lets not compare old ls to the new cars. Old cars were built to last.

06 300

127,000 + no issues. But did just get a recall on engine misfire.
