Help me out guys.
I got a 06 GS430 I got a month ago. Car is like new, with 70k miles at this point with all records from Lexus since day one. 1st owner was an older man.
Car came with brand new Continental tires, love them.
I hate vibrations, hate them more than anything else in the car so this is important to me. Even my Lincolns are perfectly balanced and I can drive them over 100 MPH all day without a problem.
I am getting a faint, very faint rumble past 80 Mph. I can only hear it and not feel it through the seat, or the floor.
Its coming from the rear I think. Steering wheel is picking up none of these vibrations.
Like I said, I dont feel it, just hear it. I just want to make sure its not U joints, or one of the rear bearings.
I am confident if I bring it to any shop they will tell me I am crazy and send me on my way home. I have worked on cars before and know how to do many things, so I am not exactly a rookie.
Could it be new Continentals? Balancing? Or maybe its normal?
I expect the car to be quiet at 60 Mph and at 100 mph.
Not that I drive the car at 80+ mph, but I I want the car to be capable if I need it to be.
Thanks
Dave

Probably balancing as almost every shop but high performance or my own machine is set to round up to nearest number. But over all I think turning up the music maybe the answer

I hate when people say turning up the music, we are not driving a 10 year old ford. Some things dont belon on a lexus and rattles and weird noises definatly dont.

Turning up the music might work on a 88 Mustang, but with this thing I want perfection. Dash rattles are bad enough.
Ill do balancing at Lexus when I go for oil change at the end of the month.

I don't know what tire stores you have out where you are, but Discount Tires (America's Tires in CA) and I think also Les Schwab do free rotation/balance checks. I just took our new-to-us '06 GS430 in to America's Tire to get the tires rotated and the tech found a slightly bent rim -- I hadn't had any symptoms though (noise/vibration). Gives me another reason to replace the wheels besides the curb rash
You could stop in one of those stores and find out sooner. Oh yeah, I had a tire once that had a carcass flaw that took a number of attempts to find/fix (replacing the tire did it) -- so I am suspicious on new tires of something like that -- it would balance up just fine btw, just would develop harmonic noise at right around 75mph
