Has anyone replaced the day running lights with super white bulbs (PIAA, etc) instead of replacing them with LEDs? I want these to look more "HID" without installing the LED bulbs (and thus losing high beams). If so, any pictures?
i think he's talking about DRL, that's the big 9005 bulb in the middle not the small wedge bulbs
replacing the DRL with any bulb won't help you at all, coz' it's running at 1/2 the power and thus yellow. unless you put a 100w bulb which becomes very dangerous when you use the high beam
I have PIAA Xtreme White bulbs (9005) for my high beam bulbs which are used for the DRL. The PIAA bulb at low wattage still looks yellow. You want white like the new Audis and Porsches, then you got to go LED. If you go LED, then you may lose your high beams.
I also have PIAA Xtreme White wedge (168) bulbs as the bulbs for my parking lights. These are the little bulbs on the end of the stick. This are close to HID color and look real nice, but they are not to be confused with the DRLs.
I'm not sure if its been addressed, but is it possible to install some bright LED DRLS that do NOT affect your high beams? All the forum posts I've seen show that all the LED DRLS prevent you from using your high beams....
The DRL and the high beam are the same light bulb. The DRL mode gives the bulb half of the high beam power. So, if I am not mistaken, unless you have a regular halogen bulb, you can't have both the DRL and the high beam.
