Default More Sub questions

Hello, I posted in the audio/video thread but there arent too many 3gers there. I also searched the forums and learned sooo much about 1996 ls' and is250s but nothing great about 3gs with Mark Levinson.
I am adding a sub to my car.
Can anyone confirm this will work for a 2006 GS430 WITH ML??
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...mpaign=froogle
I saw a great write up on someone that used the exact same part on an 06gs WITHOUT ML...
Also, I only need one of these right?
Alsoooo, does anyone know a better/cheaper option?
I have a cheap sub/amp combo laying around my house right now but if I feel like splurging, can I add a realllly good, realllly loud sub or is that sort of pointless if I keep the stock headunit and stock mids and highs???
Thanks!

I'm not sure if that it would work with a ML system, since it has its own amp and sub. Unless you can figure out some way to disconnect it from the main system/headunit. Good question though.......

All you need is a low level converter which you can pick up from future shop or best buy or circuit city for like 20-50$. With this part all you do is wire up to the factory sub wires and it turns those wire into a RCA end which you use the connect a after marked amplifier up too.

The bad thing about this way is that your have No tuning or range of freq all you have is what the factory stereo is giving you which is most likely between 100-125hz or higher which isnt a good thing if you want bass. and you will hear mids coming through the woofer.

If you want a good sounding OEM solution than you need to spend the $$$$$ and get the JL audio clean sweep or the ALPINE perfect F.I.T which cost about 400-800$

thank you guys for your responses.
I was worried about the no tuning thing but I thought the problem was volume and a bass **** would control that.
I am looking at this clean sweep stuff now. Thanks!

Yes, you would be accurate if you didn't use a crossover in the sub amp or wanted to do a LOT more than just add a sub... A cleansweep is overkill if you just want to add a sub. Just add a high/lo converter, and a sub amp that has a variable low pass filter to cut out the mid-bass, if all you want is deep/low bass. I use a 10" JL Audio W3, a 500 W Alpine amp with crossover and a high-lo converter. My system is crossed at 60HZ and the JL sub just AUGMENTS the OEM sub for added impact at 60HZ and below. Sounds GREAT.

Most factory systems roll off bass as the volume is increased, so this is the only problem in a setup like this when you are pulling the signal from AFTER The OEM amps. There are a few devices that can be added to help offset this, I believe that MTX makes one. Personally, the ML system tunes the bass based upon vehicle speed and volume, and therefore I don't use the MTX device... my system sounds great.

Thanks Lee, this makes more sense to me. I might look into the clean sweep system if I get more serious or want to add aftermarket speakers, but at this point all i want is a little more bass via the amp/sub that I already own!!
Can you please confirm you have ML in your car, and maybe point me in the direction of the line output unit you used. Just so I know itll work.
Also, as part of the JL clean sweep line, they sell a line out that comes with a boss ****. should I just jump on that?

I do have the ML, but I don't know which hi/lo my installer used (I think it was a SVEN something)... I don't think a bass **** somewhere is ugly...but YMMV

If you use the right amp, you don't need the hi-to-lo converter, and you get good bass tuning. See my writeup linked in my signature.
