Default Mark Levinson 8" sub replacement

Has anyone directly replaced the ML sub using the same exact duct?
If so, which sub did you use?
Any mods to the sub or car?
Are you happy with the new bass?

I've seen the Polk Audio sub from this thread:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/lex...all-sc430.html

I'm thinking of using a shallow mount 8" Pioneer TS-SW841D:

Any input?

Thx CL members.

California Car Sounds is thinking of a way to build a gasket to fit a 10" sub behind the duct.
http://californiacarsounds.com/

Pricey quote of $550, including Fosgate 10" sub & 500W amp, line driver, Vaistech installation.

I'll let you guys know how it goes if I go with it.

Cool.
How do you like the sound of the 8" Kicker?

For anyone in LA, I'd recommend going to California Car Sounds.

They just installed a Vais-tech SLU, Fosgate R500-1 & Earthquake SWS-8 for less than my estimate.
Real friendly people too.

The entire installation was clean:
Bass **** and 3.5mm aux dash mount in the center glove box,
8" shallow mount woofer with custom "gasket" adapter using stock sub location,
Amp hidden in spare tire case.

I'd have to tweak the sound a bit to match my needs,
but so far, it's a tremendous upgrade over the ML sub.

Pictures to be posted upon request.

As requested.

Amp right into the spare tire compartment:

The cover makes everything discreet.

Amp screwed down on each side at an angle:

Dash mounted 3.5mm auxiliary cord on left and bass **** on the right:

I'd take pictures of the sub, if it wasn't a hassle to remove my back seats.
Wouldn't be much different from ZGone's installation with an 8" Polk Audio sub
(see here: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/lex...all-sc430.html).

I've been away from car audio for some time, but $550 really isn't that pricey for all you got, even if they gave you a 8 vs 10" sub.

Questions:
1. Why didn't you get the 10" that they quoted?
2. Where on the dash is it mounted?
3. How much more AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! does it sound than the stock ML crap???

You're right. I was being a cheap bastard.
They actually charged me $520.

1. Requires some cutting into the body. As long as it sounds good, I'm not going to be particular about the size.

2. Check the 3rd picture. Right in the center glove box.
Here's a link to the product page: http://www.pac-audio.com/productDeta...&CategoryID=45

3. MUCH MORE. I actually have bass now..
