All you do is adjust it when the car is in reverse. It will move to where you want it

Shouldn't this tilt more of an agle without me adjusting it everytime I back up?
It is annoying to do this everytime I park.

Quote: My passenger side rear view mirror tilt only tilts 10-15 degrees. I think when I bought this new in 2007 it tilted more. It basically is useless right now with the degree of tilt it does not let you see curb when backing up. I took it in several months ago and dealer told me this is working normal. I think otherwise, has anyone experience this problem and was is corrected?
I had the same problem, I took my car to the dealer the first time they couldn't find the problem. When I drove home the problem appeared. I got very upset and took the car back the next day and demanded to have the Lexus Corporate people to come out to look at it...... They took my word very seriously when I said that..... They changed both sides with new mirrors (the entire mirror housing).
After that the mirrors are now working fine. I have just done it last week. Try to be hash on them a little bit or you will let them get away with their flaws.

Quote: the manual actually describes a way to adjust the amount of tilt in reverse, I ve never tried it but look in there. Otherwise it may be a bad mirror, those gears go out often, but I guess it should not work right in going back to the original spot....I turned mined off so that the gears dont break now that I am out of warranty, that and I installed the mirror covers...
by any chance u know what page? I look but couldn't find this. Thanks.

This is actually a known issue with the 3GS and most dealerships should be willing to take care of the problem. When I brought mine in, the srv mgr immediately said it was known and wouldn't be a problem to replace and fix the issue.

jreby95, but the mirror works when I manually adjust it.

I think I got my solution from this forum https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...n-reverse.html

I'll try it tomorrow.

I had this checked out at dealer 3 times, each time they say it is normal operation. The Service Manager finally relented and ordered a new mirror, they put it on & checked operation. They said it was the same as old mirror so they removed new mirror and put back old one. They said case closed since new miroor operates same as old. I still think it's bull. Maybe I should try another dealership? My dealership where I took car in 3 times has always corrected everything I complained about in past and are very accomodating but have failed to satisfy me this time.

Side mirrors don't tilt all the time when backing up?
Does anyone have the experience that there side mirrors don't always tilt down when in reverse? I can't figure out why and I had the same problem on my last 300 series car (this one is the 350gs)

Thanks in advance,
Jim

make sure on the drop down panel that its selected on either the left or right mirror. if its not selected on a mirror, the mirrors will not tilt.

it could be the gear wearing out, a relatively common problem on lexus

Thanks. Seems to be that I had to have one side selected as suggested. Great!!!
