Default Outside rear view mirrors

Help!
Right rear view mirror will not tilt down when shifting into reverse. i suspected this would go bad fast. Has anyone done a repair on this? 2006 GS430.

You can get a used mirror and housing on ebay, and pull the doorpanel off and swap out the mirror, may consider even adding turn blinkers on while you are going through the process.

the motors go bad. if its under warranty, take it to the dealer and they will replace it for free.

usually it's the gear that goes bad first, not the motor

people have had to replace the whole mirror to fix it. and that costs a ********.

i wish the gear itself could be replaced. that would be a much much cheaper fix.

I just got my car out of service. When i brought it in and took a test drive with this guy i told him that once i put it in reverse it doesnt tilt back to normal position. Its little off, he said no problem they will order new mirrors for me. So its a common problem and they know it them selfs.

Which delaer did you take it to? I took to Lexus of Manhattan & they told me it was normal and refused to replace it.

hey you guys with the broken mirrors.....

when the mirror doesn't tilt back, can you manually adjust it back with the mirror controls?

cuz if mine breaks after warranty, I won't even bother to fix it if the manual adjust still works.

i can't remember 100% from my sc430, but i don't think the control works. i remember manually slapping the mirrors back up and then the controls work again

maybe others can confirm on their 3gs
