As to the Ipod, you can get the VAIS or Carson Toyota (a sponsor) posted a little bit ago about a Lexus and Apple approved iPod adaptor that will incorporate into your existing system and be placed in your glove box. This is the one I want. Both the R-spec unit and the iPod will have to be installed by a professional unless you are very handy (which I am not).
Hey I did this conversion as well however I only can do bluetooth and dvd are you able and if so how to do nav while driving...

Man its been a little while i know its the same process as the 450h gs, the white and black wire is in a different spot then the 06,07 its on the driver side harness now so i did the same process with cutting the purple wire i believe there where three wires that you cut and one doesnt get hooked back up, i do not have a toggle switch. Like i said i can watch movies and use my bluetooth while driving but still have to pull over to do the nav. I had a guy that had bootleg disc and we tried to use it on mine and still didnt work, so i didnt know if any one has successfully converted there nav to work while driving on a 08 gs350. I could probably look up the exact steps I did previously if you want them.

if you cut off a wire and capped it off, and cut 2 others and tied them together, you are missing the switch in the middle....you need to place a toggle switch for NAV....
you did OPTION 1 on the 1st page of this ....here is a cut and paste

Option 1 – BT bypass only- Wire cutting dial pad option. You want dial out keypad only and dont care to a lot about navigation input while in motion.....or dont want to install a switch anywhere.... You can cut the purple wire and directly re-route to the nav purely for the purpose of allowing the dial pad, and then they can use a hybrid dvd if needed for nav input.
SGT had an excellent thread about this and I wont repost it
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/show...2&postcount=92
Please note difference between his 06 diagrams and 07+…. on the 07+ h1 plug is not on the passenger side. It is a totally different plug and it is the center of the three plugs on the display unit. Also the wire that is to be cut is on Pin #16 of the h1 plug, which was white with silver spots on the wire.

Comment: If you are cutting wires already, you should consider installing a switch so that you do not need to make hybrid DVD (see below)

Just to consolidate posts, I updated my first post from a few years ago so I thought I'd share it on this thread as well since this is the official sticky.

But before I begin, a word of caution. Some people can't even talk on a phone and drive, let alone have a movie playing in front of them. Please don't do this if you don't have self restraint and control. If you kill yourself because you were watching a movie behind the wheel, we'll all laugh and call you an idiot. But if you kill someone else, you will forever be branded a murderer. BTW, watching a DVD while driving is mostly likely, illegal in most states. Check with your local law enforcement.

Hopefully, you have had some experience w/a crimper and maybe even a soldering iron. And I really hope that this is not going to be your maiden outting on a $50K Lexus. If you're using a soldering iron, please be careful with it. We charge $150 for this procedure and you may think that it's a lot but you'll be SOL if you burn a hole through your carpet w/a soldering iron. You'll probably kick yourself in the *** for not shelling out a measly $150. Besides, if you drive a $50K car you should be able to afford it. If you can't, you've got your priorities screwed up. Think before you do. We make it look easy because we have experience and experienced people deserve to get paid.

Instructions>
The removal instructions are already posted somewhere. I won't go into that.
There are three white plugs going into the monitor. We will not touch the middle one.

On the far left, closest to driver's side, is 26-pin plug K46.
On the far right, closest to passenger side, is 32-pin plug h1.

On K46, pin # 14 is purple. It is the VSS wire coming in from the BCM to the monitor. Leave a couple of inches on the plug and cut it.
On K46, pin # 23 is yellow. It is the Parking Brake wire that tells the monitor if the parking brake is engaged. Leave a couple of inches on the plug and cut it.
On h1, pin # 13 is pink. It is the VSS wire that leads out to the navigation unit. Leave a couple of inches on the plug and cut it.

The monitor side of the purple wire will be left disconnected. Tape it up or preferably crimp it w/a 3M cap.
The wireloom side of the yellow wire will be left disconnected. Tape it up or preferably crimp it w/a 3M cap.
The monitor side of the pink wire will be left disconnected. Tape it up or preferably crimp it w/a 3M cap.
Use a ring terminal and an 18 awg wire to connect the monitor side of the yellow wire to chassis ground. There's plenty of grounding locations available along the side, where the monitor mounts. Screw or bolt it in securely w/o interfering w/mounting area.
Use butt connectors or tape and solder an 18 awg wire to connect the wireloom side of the purple wire to the wireloom side of the pink wire. You are effectively re-routing the VSS signal directly into the navigation.

Reinstall the monitor and you are finished.

Synopsis>
Now you should be able to watch movies and access the Bluetooth features while in motion. The parking brake indicator light will only come on when the parking brake is actually engaged. And there should be proper VSS signal reaching the navigation unit. All with absolutely no switches needed. However, this procedure will not bypass the navigation safety feature. You cannot input addresses, etc. while moving.

Obviously, the VSS signal is still reaching the navigation brain and it's sensing movement and locks you out of it's controls.

Top down view.

Plug K46, closest to driver.

Plug h1, closest to passenger.

UPDATE: Sorry, but I've been really busy and haven't been checking my PMs or updating info on here. We moved to a new location awhile ago. The old place was nice but the rent was too high with this economy.

New location
Sound Specialists
8507 Garden Grove Blvd.
Garden Grove, CA 92844
North-East corner of GG Blvd and Dale St. Between Beach Blvd. & Magnolia.

The old number is still forwarded but our new number is 714-530-8779

BTW, we can perform hacks for IS as well.
We also sell and install Parrot Bluetooth kits as well as USASpec & Vaistech iPod integration kits and Vaistech satellite radio kits.
And as some of you already know, we still work closely with Lexus of Westminster.

BYPASS UPDATE: You can temporarily access the Navigation Controls while in motion by installing a toggle switch between the PURPLE & PINK wires instead of just connecting them together. Just flip the switch, input an address, and flip the switch back. Obviously, if you leave the switch closed and the wires are connected, then you don't have to do anything to watch a movie. This switch just gives you the option of inputting an address when you really can't get off the freeway and pull over.

I've been doing this for a couple of years and never got around to updating this post. Sorry but when you're so focused on work, and involved in so many different projects and other forums, I tend to forget things. Again, I appologize. On the upside, this may help a bunch of you out there so good luck and drive safely... but most of all, enjoy!

For the hybrid navigation disc option, anyone tried the v.09 map data + v.05 loading.kwi?

I'm currently running the map data v.08 + v.05 loading.kwi

I assume since the Hybrid Disc option is listed here, it is not illegal?
I know I can't burn this properly myself. Any ideas on someone else burning one and me purchasing it?
