Default Problem with the window... advise please

Well, in order to get the limo tint that I wanted, I had to get the Tint done somewhere else, other than Lexus. Finally found a guy who did it under the table for me without a receipt considering the legality of the situation. Anyway, apparently the rubber on the inside of the car that "cleans" or "guides" the window up was bent inward... this happened to ALL four windows. Can ya believe that? Everytime I roll the window up all four get smudged on the inside and the back two windows struggle to move up because of the friction.

So I did what any other Lexus owner would have done... I took my car to Lexus, figuring they'd fix it for maybe a hundred bucks or so. The service guy comes out and tells me that he wants to charge me $55 for each rubber strip on all the four doors, with $145-$155 service fee for each door, adding up to $800 - $840. I thought that was absolutely rediculously priced, and so obviously, I left. I heard that these rubber strips move back to its original shape once heat is applied, whether it be naturally through sun light or artificial heat (i.e. electric hair dryer). Is this true?

I know that it's not Lexus' fault in any way whatsoever that the tint shop screwed up. And that they would have taken the responsibility if it were them would made the mistake. Even though the blame goes to the tint shop, I personally believe that 850 bucks is freagin rip off and a half for four rubber strips. .Any suggestions what the hell I'm supposed to do? Cause if there is absolutely no other option, I will reluctantly let Lexus take care of the situation. Thanks again.

wait i don't get it. can you just pry them out so they stay in the original position insteaf of bending in?

they need to bent that plastic strip down (in) when the do the tinting, but aftwards you can just easily bend it back up to the original position, and after a while it should be fine.

happened to my cars and i don't have any issue

So the guy who did the install won't help pay for the fix? Is he a professional installer?

don’t feel bummed about your tints I had Lexus do them they look great but ever time I bring it in the shop they got to retint them because they scratch them up the back window has a bubble but not even going to tell them because knowing them, they will make my radio not work. Work on my 3 retint job by them lol same car

The rubber strips on all of my cars that I have tinted have always been pushed down. The tinter needs to do this to get the tint all the way into the glass under the sill. It's perfectly normal and will eventually go back to its original shape. There's no need to worry about it or spend $800 to get it fixed. I pried mine in the rear back up and had more friction than when they were tucked in. You can also try cleaning the glass. There's probably some residual adhesive left on the tint thats causing the extra friction.

umm actually it might not eventually go back up if you don't manully go in and pull it up. that's the case for mine, where i had to pull on them

I never said it would go back up by itself, you do have to pull them back up. Mine were slightly distorted after I did this. The deformation will eventually go away is what I meant.
