anyone on this board have the remote start dealer installed on their push button start 06 GS? im just interested as to how it works, my dealer is having it put in today, and i will bring home the car tommorrow.

 

how much did that cost? I'd like to get it.

 

they used to use the valet key to activate the transponder in the ignition. I'm guessing that it would not be feasible to do that with the push button GEN 3 because someone could drive away with the car easily. Some installers also used on the non push button start vehicles a transponder bypass switch that was activated by the remote start key fob...they didn't like those in the past because if it ever failed you were not getting your car started - even with the key. That unfortunately is probably the only option they have available for GEN 3 GS and other push button start Lexus vehicles.

 

at the time of actually buying the vehicle, we put the remote start and tints on the list as the only extra options to add. the dealer then said the remote start has no guarantee. we bought the car and did all the paperwork over a week ago. yesterday he called us saying he did the start and tints for 1g extra. i'll be picking up the car tonite, i'll let everyone know if its actually done, if it works differently from the usual, and any other info.

 

What exactly is remote start? I'm thinking James Bond where the car turns on even when you're not in it.

 

exactly! car starts with the push of a remote button, nothing special really, u can install one in any car, wuts special is on a push button start GS!

 

The new avalon has it. Iv tried it - Its SICKKK! its a 500 dollar option to get remote start on all the avalons, i think? I knwo its defnitely on the XLS and Limited. Once you open the door after remote starting it, the engine will shut off for security reasons.

 

you guys were right, i got my hopes up. so we pull up at the dealership with a beautiful black gs sitting right underneath the main entrance tent, got inside and it was our car! the dealer said it was too difficult to do, so he gave us in return some kind of gift package which includes some service for 3 years and 10 free oil changes. remote start would have been real nice, but the car is still amazing! sorry if i got anyones hopes up.....

 

No biggie you still got the GS which is more of a WOW than any single feature!!!
