Default Remote Start (Enform)

So when I had a GS there was the option for the remote start feature with the key fob that the dealer explained to me. So I wondered if this car had it since it had the remote start enform, I wondered if I could use the same method. Press the lock button three times rapidly and then hold on the third press. Guess what it works so if you don't plan to renew the Enform you will still have the enform remote start feature for the car.

What model year was the GS? The Lexus Enform Remote "LER" was introduced in 2016 for all models and in 2015 for
sedans with Navigation such as the GS. Prior to that was a Dealer or Port installed module called Remote Engine Start "RES"
and Remote Engine Start Plus "RES+", "Plus" adds a smartphone app with a subscription This $500 or $1000 system responds
to the key fob cadence just like LER and does not expire. Those that balked at the LER subscription ($249/year then, now $160)
could have the RES (not plus) installed and have the keyfob free forever.

I had the remote start feature not Enform on GS, and it was a 2014.

Agreed. Was cursing Lexus for not having a mute button, then read the manual and discovered you hold down the mode button for .2 sec. lol.

Seasonal trick here in snowy IL, not so much in TX and CA...
Pull the passenger side windshield wiper arm straight up along the glass (not away from...)
and it will pop to a higher angle. Now you can raise both arms away from the glass for scraping
snow or servicing the wiper inserts. ES's from 2018 and earlier also have this feature

My 15 GS has Lexus Enform Remote. Using the fob to start the car only works when my subscription is active. I suspect the LS is the same. Check the other model forums and you’ll see how upset people are by this.

That Enform thing sucks. It never works for me. I wonder if Audi designed it??

Thank you, this info is very helpful. I have a 2014 LS with a dealer-installed remote, which I am guessing is RES not RES+ since it still works without the Enform subscription. I was planning to call the dealer to find out if I could remote-start my car using an App, but this is a moot point since I have RES. I would have paid $80 per year for the Enform Remote app, but not more. There are clear benefits to using the App, so it is a good value in the cold upper Midwest and Central US.

I have it on three of my cars and it works on all of them. What happens when you attempt to start your car from the app?

The basic communication between the car, Lexus and you is the Safety Connect using the cars built-in 3/4 watt phone.
Started in 2010 it was complimentary for 12 months until 2018 when it became free for 120 months (10 years!).
Trivia answer...there was no 2012 GS...starting with the new design in 2013 the GS's SC subscription was $149/yr.
Last year Lexus lowered the cost of SC to $80 for the 2010 through 2017 models. The new related feature
is Service Connect that enables the car to provide notification of service needs. Terrific feature if the driver is
not the owner (or bill payer!) such as a employee car or college car. Boss or Dad gets the e-mail so the oil
gets changed on time.
The optional Lexus Enform Remote Start is an $80/yr upgrade using the SC communication. A 2015 - 2017 owner
would pay $160/yr ($80 + $80) for RS and a 2018 on will only pay the $80 because the basic service is free.

That is a negative ghost rider.

No dice for me. I’ll take it up with the dealer next time I’m in.

So far, I’m not impressed.
