My gs400 has a regular radio but I’ve seen them with what look like factory nav screens. Is that a thing? Any suggestions on where to find one and is it possible to swap them out without too much trouble? Thx
There was an option for a navigation system from the manufacturer. It can be very difficult to retroactively add to a car that didn’t come with it. The controls for the HVAC are integrated into the same controls as the stereo and there is a dvd based system for the maps that went on the trunk. It’s a very involved system that probably could be swapped from a donor vehicle but it would involve altering wire harnesses too. I don’t believe any member of ClubLexus has been able to successfully do this. It’s much simpler to purchase and install an aftermarket system like the Pioneer. Many of the newer systems have a full screen from edge to edge, so they don’t have a different style **** or anything that would make it look out of place. And they include connections for an iPhone or android that allow much more advanced features than any of the original options available when these cars were new
This is a link to a DIY to add a 3.5mm jack to your factory stereo and let you play digital music through the factory system for minimal time and cost and it works extremely well, I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to upgrade the stereo but likes how it looks from the factory. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...-headunit.html
Bananags has a post on converting a non-nav system into a nav one. It's from forever ago, so the prices are for brand new nav systems, but if you track down the pieces it shows you how to set it up. it under interior #12 http://bananags.grantham-international.com/
