Default Need help with compatibility

Good day Everyone!

I know BBK has been talked about in the forums a lot but I haven't had a definitive answer to my question, so I have to ask about it.

I'm gathering parts for BBK upgrade on my 2002 Toyota Aristo, it has the OEM stock calipers and I wanted to upgrade it due to the fact that I have a nagging feeling whenever I step on the brakes. . I installed Project Mu's SS lines on all 4s and it helped a bit, I want more strength on the stopping power. to make the story short, talked to a salvage yard and they have the 06 Gs430 sold for parts and Im getting a good deal on the front calipers. now my question is, is it plug and play on my car? And do I need RCA's to make it work?

I appreciate all your answers.

No, it's not a direct fit, you need adaptors. They can be purchased for a few hundred dollars and allow the fitting of 3/4th gen GS calipers. They're not sold by official forum vendors so it's forbidden to tell you where to buy them.

Thank you for your answer. I was going to shoot you a PM but I don't have access to to that feature.

Would you be able to PM me the sources?

Just wondering cuz I am in the midst of doing a GS400 upgrade.
Are expenive adapters needed if I use not so expensive RCAs with 25mm or 1 inch thick ?

Ive seen it even suggested that cutting an old balljoint to use the two hole mounting partbof ot as an rca is also an option.

Any advice ?

I think you need them as all the forums I visited had a definitive answer on that. You need it to clear the castle nut from the tie rod rather than grinding your castle nut which is not recommended as it will be a safety issue

You can find generic RCA’s in whatever size you want. Search eBay, they run about $65. The better option that most of us have opted for is a pair of front calipers and rotors from a 95-00 LS400. They bolt right on, only require a 17mm RCA to clear the tie-rod end. The pads are easy to live with, and easy to find. I bought mine from junk yard that let me pull the parts myself. Both calipers was only $35, new pads and rotors was another $100, very affordable. If you really want maximum braking, then running a set of EBC yellow stuff pads and their best rotors will get your car stopped in about the shortest distance possible. You can always get bigger and more powerful brakes but your tires grip, will be the limiting factor in most situations.

In the country I live, its hard to find an LS400, there is one yard that gave me a good price for Ls430 calipers front and back but I haven't seen a thread highlighting the said calipers, there is a bracket for the rears but on the fronts I couldn't find anything

The LS430 font calipers will also bolt right up to your 2GS. I don’t think they look as clean as the LS400 calipers but they probably work even better. The rear brakes need that adapter so they aren’t swapped as frequently. The front brakes provide most of the stopping power, so upgrading the rears will not make as noticeable improvement. You can usually find plenty of LS400/430 front and rears on eBay for reasonable prices. Also they are all made of aluminum, so they polish up to a mirror finish if you want to invest the time.

is it? I thought the LS430 calipers bolt on from the top side unlike the LS400 which is from the side? If so then I will take the LS430 one. as I said before Ls400's are a rarity in the country I live.

It is top mounted.

My apologies, I did the LS400 swap, and it seems like the 430 swap is pretty common. It’s been a little while since I researched it. And your right, the 430 requires a bracket to clock it in the correct position and adapt to the pattern, I believe it’s fairly straight forward with the bracket. The rotor goes right on, the brake line will hook relight up to it. And the bracket is affordable. Let me see if I can find out if there are any available, and I will let you know.

Thank you. Shoot me a PM if you find out, I have researching also. I found some Gs350 advics but I heard that it makes a noise that will make one's OCD itch.

Not sure how much of this info u have already found? But it covers a lot of what others have done. Also some arguments about brake theory and why some hings help or not.
