Upgrading brakes on 90 LS400
Hey all,
I've recently installed new brakes (rotors and EBC Redstuff pads) on my 90 LS400, but am still not satisfied with the stopping power. For lack of a better word, the OEM size rotors and single piston calipers on the 90 LS suck. Didn't Lexus realize this is a 4,000 pound car? These brakes are weak.
I've been searching the forum for options for upgrading to bigger rotors and calipers, but am still not certain what is available for the first gen LS. I've seen some upgrade to Supra TT brakes, and SC owners upgrading to the 95-2000 LS400 brakes, which I'm assuming are larger than the 90 LS400 brakes. I have also looked into the Big Brake kits, but am not really looking to spend 2 grand on brakes.
What are the best options for doing this? If I go with Supra brakes, does anyone have part numbers, etc? Same with the "bigger" LS400 brakes?
FYI, I've got 19's on the car, so I don't anticipate there being any issues with rotor or caliper clearance.
Thanks!

you should search harder.
mkiv supra TT brakes and 95-00 LS400 brakes will work in the front. you need calipers, caliper bolts, shims, pads, rotors and potentially a centering ring. Also, if you do the 2LS bbk you will need 95-00 LBJ to swap out for your stock ones.
if your wheels weren't made for big brakes they won't clear the calipers due to width. it's independent of diameter.
more info via search.
