Hope everyone's doing well. Recently picked up a 1999 GS300 in great shape. It does have its wear over the years but for the most part, it's a great condition. I've been searching and searching and searching for all the small things I'd like to do to it. Nothing crazy as I already own a 2000 Integra Type R and 2003 NSX which are my money pits. I want to keep this car as close to faculty as possible but still satisfy my inner car perfectionist itch. So right away I noticed the headlights and tail lights that seem to be common issues with these beautiful cars. I have a DTR light that's out anyway so wondering what options I have there for a nice bulb that isn't going to out shine or not match the factory headlights? I did see someone go with an amber type bulb which looked nice. Should I go that route? And then there is the dreaded rear fades inners. Just wanting a nice red color. I read about the LED replacements but I also read some wire cutting to mate the 01+? Really not wanting to cut wires so what options do I have there? some pictures
Thanks in advance. Seems like a much better community around here than the Honda boards I use to frequent lol
Wow an Imola Orange NSX! Congrats. Also to answer your original question the lights and wiring are all the same throughout the years. The only difference will be if the cars had factory HID or not and then the front headlights and auto leveling sensors would be the only differences.
I think it needs some new wheels and then call it good . But for the DRLs it's a 194 bulb. I recommend Amazon haha, just search up the size and whether you want led or halogen. I actually have amber ones my black gs with I can post a picture of if you'd like. My white gs doesn't have automatic DRLs being a 98 but I can manually turn them on and those are white but not even close to being as bright as the amber although that's probably cause it was a dirt cheap pack of 10 haha. I will say that amber is way more visible during the day.
As for the so common and gross faded inner tails, I have a set of smoled led specd on both cars. You can check out my black car's on my build thread. I'll be getting a new full set of bragas in a week and I'll be willing to sell my current inner tails if you're interested.
Welcome to club Lexus

Welcome, looks like it's in great condition! Just helped my brother-in-law purchase a 1998 GS300 with 282,000 miles. He loves it. I own a 1999 GS400 myself and they are great cars.

thsnk you! Pretty sure it doesn't have HIDs. It's actually not the DTRL that's out. It's the tiny bulb in there that only comes on when regular headlights are on
Your new GS looks like it is in fabulous condition. May it give you every satisfaction.
I'm curious - what is the mileage and do you have any interior pics?
it has 186k miles. Bought it from a single owner who's an older lady. I only paid $3.3k for it so I'm pretty happy. The AC is the only major issue it has. I'll get some pictures on the inside and post them up soon
Very nice, have never seen that color on an NSX before. As for the fading inner tails, a cheap fix that sill looks good is red vinyl. No splicing or replacing and it looks factory.

so I did see that one eBay. And since I'm not planning to invest too much on this daily commuter, I may go that route.
