Default Japanese Vs US Headlights?

I recently bought some headlights off ebay. I did the "Bake" trick and basically took the 2 best lenses and the two best bodies and combined them to make 2 good lights and they have worked great since summer.

I noticed that the lights I bought did not have the little "windows" where you can look down in and see the bubble levels, which I was not too concerned about.

However a bulb burnt out yesterday, and when I went to buy some replacements I discovered that the bulb in the newer body is slightly different from the bulb that the guide said should fit my cars headlights. The old dead bulb has on skinny tab, where the new ones have 3 equally wide tabs, and the round part that goes inside, that has a little red o-ring gasket is a bit narrower than the new bulb.

I was concerned that I either had a Japanese version that would require a diff type of light, or maybe a very different year or something. Does anyone know if there is any difference in the bulb fitment for either import or domestic lights or maybe the years? mine is a 93 if that matters.

I don't believe there is a difference in the light fitment. I have a JDM headlight and an extra USDM one. The difference other than the little level window with USDM is the light angle when its on. JDM slants to the left and US to the right. (as far as I know at least). Some modifies the inside to have straight view or something but no difference with the light socket.

What he said (For the most part) ^^^

FYI, USDM headlights use a 9006 bulb while JDM ones use 9005.

Oh yeah.... 9006 then 9005... I think the only difference with those bulb is the socket where the harness plugs in. I had 9005 on my JDM then when I bought HID, i bought a 9006 kit. You can just cut this little notch guide on one or the other if you want to be able to plug in the harness.

The JDM uses the 9005 bulb which has a smaller base where the o-ring is. The usdm uses 9006 bulbs which doesn't fit into the JDM socket because of the larger base. The plugs are the same.
