Just purchased my gs and I would like to know what is the best position to drive the car in?
D4/ or 4/ or D3 and will the power switch on will that eventually wear out the tranny. The car has 145,000 on it. Thanks
I understand d3 is for around town and will drive at higher rpm what is the fatest u can go in d3

Just leave it in D. ECT PWR shifts at higher RPMs with firmer shifts, it won't necessarily wear out the transmission any faster. I only use the 4,3,2, and L settings for engine braking when necessary (e.g. down a hill), limiting it to a specific gear in normal driving will have an adverse effect on your fuel economy and could increase wear to the driveline components.

I leave mine in D with power on. And only use e-shift buttons for downhill engine braking as well.

Keeping the car in PWR mode is supposedly better for your transmission as the firmer shifts produce less wear and heat.

I keep in D with POWER off. I get good gas mileage.

POWER when you need it, NORMAL when you don't SNOW for well, obvious reasons.

and doesn't driving it in 4 defeat the over drive gear and causes premature wear on the tranny parts?
