Default Question: Transmission "S" Mode 6 or 5?

I noticed that i have the option to put the car in 6 in the S mode. I think this gives me better fuel economy. I do not change the gears or anything. Instead of using D I use S and upshift to 6 and drive normally.

ANy comments on this? am i getting better fuel economy? thanks

Staying in 6th gear would give you the lowest engine RPM at the same speed as 5th gear, thus decreasing fuel consumption and increasing efficiency.

If you leave the gearbox in D, it would go up to 6th gear as well. Using the S mode simply gives you control in certain situations, i.e. anticipating to make a pass on the freeway.

6 speed autos... me car needs a new tranny upgrade.

Anyone have the gearing ratios on those?

I assumed that you have a 4spd or even a 3spd AT and you want 6 gears.
