Accelerating RPMs
How much do you guys rev up to when going through the gears? Drive Mode or Sport Mode. I'm trying to take it easy as I'm still breaking it in. I usually rev no more than 3,000 RPMs as of now. If you guys do rev higher, is it good for the engine in the long run?
It depends on the situation. I go up to redline when I need to or want to.
I think if you accelerate hard, youll wear your tranny faster compared to a person who always shifts at 3k or below rpm. but hey if you have 306hp, you NEED to use it to its fullest potential.

So the transmission takes more of a pounding then the engine itself? I always thought the reverse. I love driving this car and with the sport shift, it would be ideal to shift to redline. I just hate to see this car suffering premature mechanical damage (blown gaskets and such) due to driving at higher RPMs every time. Even in normal drive mode, I love to hit the 4,000-5,000 RPM mark because that's the point where you get some pretty nice acceleration with the IS.
Just do it man!!
The highest I've taken was about 5500RPM when I had about 500-600miles. When I had maybe about 200-400miles, I went about 4800-5000RPM, which is the peak torque RPM range. I got 625+miles on it after 2weeks and haven't redlined it. I guess now I can since I'm "Officially" broken in!
