Keyless Entry Question
Quick Question... I just got my Fiancé an RX300 and the distance on her keyless entry to unlock doors is unreal. On my GS4 I have to get right up on my door... Do you all think I need to replace my key battery and if so where would I find one??
i tried to replace the battery on my 98 gs4 remote and it doesn't help much at all... i wonder why... the sensor inside the car is not as sensitive?

I've got a new 2002 GS3. I was bummed to read in the manual that it would only work from a couple of yards away.
However, it does work from a great distance. I have used it at least 30 yards away and probably could go further if needed.

I have a 98 GS3 and my remote works from different distances; about 10 yards to lock and 5 yards to unlock the doors and couple of feet to open the trunk.

My GS 98 key works 10+ metres away.
Butcheck this out, I also tried making it work 20+ metres away by holding it to my chin (also useful if your battery is gone/low) and it worked all the way across the carpark! I had heard of this but thought it silly until I tried. I guess the skull or the body's electric currents aid it a lot.

If its not the battery of the remote, then its probably the transmitter antenna in the remote or the receiver antenna in the security system unit.
Years ago, Autopage sold an antenna extention (wire connected to a thin rod) to its alarm system unit to maximize the remote's range. This entended antenna was placed on the front dash.
Maybe this concept will work here? Worth a try.

I know this is a dumb question but how do you unlock all the doors with the remote? I have to push the button about 4 times to open all the doors and it sounds like I'm goin nuts with the remote.
My trick to extend the range is to touch my metal key portion of the remote to my watch band which is metal (in this case titanium). Act like a larger transmitting antenna. If metal watch band is not available use a bare metal covered pen (make sure it is not clear coated or painted). In fact almost any metal surface material will extend the range. I usually get more than 3 to 4 times the distance.

i went through three batteries trying to find the same distance I was able to get from the rx300 loaner i had while getting the oil changed at the dealer. my 98 gs4 just didn't have anywhere near the same range as the newer remote units either.
Okay..Thanks for all the replies, so it seems as if I have no option in extending my distance other than getting all of my teeth filled or rocking a Rolex..... must of been one of the redesigns in the other models
