FYI:

I know this sounds stupid, but the owners manual only says the remote will only work 3ft or closer. Thats all they garantee.

On my 2001 GS430 there is a C-Best computer setting called car finder that extends the reach of the remote. I had it done and mine works from 40-50 feet.

Here's the C-Best description:

"Wireless Door Lock CAR FINDER ON ON/OFF of the car finder function which lights up all turn signal lights once when lock button is pressed on transmitter while vehicle doors are locked and closed"

You'll have to get your dealer to change the setting. They may or may not charge you depending on your relationship with the dealer and if you ask them to do it while you are bringing the car in for other service.

I get great range, 100 feet, if I stand on my head, do the splits all the while balancing a 2 lbs block of steel on each foot. Also a foundation of aliumiun foil helps too. LOL

Yeah forehead or your chin... not sure how it works, but I heard the skull acts like an extention of the antenna! Sounds like a joke but it works for me! When the battery is low it works too!

its the metal plate they put in your head after getting that beating for giving such a dumb statement.

no oddly enough this does work...i didn't do it...made the gf so i didn't feel so retarded if it didn't (i can see u over there laughing at all the people with their remotes on their foreheads) but like i said oddly enough it does seem to help some but not all that much more that i wanna go walking around the parking lots with my remote on my forehead

Ok, didnt want to start a new thread( I might though). So my key out of nowhere isnt unlocking or locking my doors anymore. Its the master key. Ive tried the programming guide. The one where you lock/unlock 5 times, close/open the door, repeat without closing door, insert key into ignition and so on. I got it to unlock and lock like its supposed to, but it wont recognize the damn key!! Is there a fuse anywhere that might have blown out? Ive been searching but have not yet found my answer. Thanks.
EDIT: I gave up trying after my lock switch on the door wouldnt work the front locks, I got scared to mess anything up. They worked after 1 min though.

I was working at KIA motors a few summers ago. When we took the company minivan to lunches, the girl working there held the alarm button and we heard the alarm from the other side of the building.... it's not a small building.

I need to replace the battery on my key, but the screw holding the thing together is all messed up. It's like oxidized and stripped and I can't seem to get it out.
