Question Model changes

Hi,

I'm soon to be in the market to replace the Cressida with the next logical car: Lexus.

Don't know whether to get a GS300 or LS400. Loooove the 2JZ in the GS. Love the opulant luxury of the 400.

So, I know that if you're just getting into a LS on the cheap, you get the 93/94 1st Gen models (better brakes, Nakamichi, heated seats, etc). But what's the breakdown on the GS300?

They actually seem to be holding their value better than the LS here in the Northwest. Is there a guide to models and options page somewhere?

Or are they all like the JZA-80 SupraTT where you just pick your tranny as long as it isn't model year 1996?

What years constitute which generations? Is there a list of changes anywhere on the web someone can point me to?

Thanks!

To me I think you should get the GS over the LS, its just more sportier. But if you want a smoother ride get the LS, it has more leg room in the back.

Thanks! Now, the tougher question - options or running changes list?

Default Model Changes.

As far as 1st Gen. GS3 are concerned
there were no real changes in the car.
The one and only change Lexus did make
to the 1st Gen. was in 96-97, where the
center piece between the taillights was
taken out, and it was just the extension
of the trunk. As far as mechanical and interior
characteristics and options, I believe, everything
stayed the same until the introduction of the
2nd Generation.
If you are looking for a smooth, very quiet ride
and more room get an LS. But if you crave sport and
style get a GS and join the dark side. The force is with
you.
Regards.

MA71,
I also see you just joined ClubLexus.
Welcome. I also think that a 96-97 change
I told you about up top is an ugly one.
But that's just my opinion.
And I know that I might get flamed for this,
but get a 1st Gen. GS3. If you hook it up right,
it will be worth it. There are examples of GS3 out
there that can't even be described by words. Look
at Rico's Revenge, or ask Dieselman63 about 1st Gen.
GS3 with over 400 horses under the hood.
I just love the car. But once again, that's just my
opinion. In any case, good luck with your quest.
Regards.

Definetly First generation GS thats all i have to say. its I6 power engine is strong as hell man. the GS is more of a youngs person car. but if your old get an LS. all i have to say is that the first generation GS is best bang for the buck plus it has the EXACT same engine as the Toyota Supra. you can turbo/super charge this thing. i'm with Rover on this one. First Generation ALL THE WAY

Yeah, baby.
That's what I'm talking about.
After all what you choose LS or GS
depends on you. Do you like big cars
or smaller ones, and do you like straight
lines or smooth curves of a GS? It's up
to you, but a 1st Gen. GS is my vote.
Regards.
