i'm planning to the get the pioneer avic d3 for my 03' gs300. 1 of the many few reasons: need an upgrade in stereo, navi, dvd player etc...
question is if i replace it, is there any way of making the stock sub (planning to replace that as well same size) work? will i need a new amp or what not??? thanks guys...

you should be able to use it by bypassing the stock amp. but i'd run a newer amp.

you would be better off running amps one for your sub and another for your highs also there is a bypass so you can use your navigation while driving and watch movies although you shouldn't do that lol and i also would take the sub out and run a box free air sub just don't sound that good i wouldn't even waste my money jl subs i think are the best bang for your buck i still have wo subs from 10 years ago running in my home towers after taking them out of my old truck and fosgate amps are great for bass and i like my new pioneer premier amp for highs

i have a d3. instructions in the DIY sticky of this forum shows you how to bypass the factory amp and keep your factory sub, the problem with this is that it makes it 2 ohms. my friend had done this to his car and had ended up blowing his factory amp. whereas, i bypassed mine without keeping the factory sub. i'm currently running a avic-d3, and 10w7 in a sealed enclosure in the trunk. my suggestion, go the old fashioned way and go with a aftermarket sub and amp.
