Finally done aye? Get some pix and vids posted up!

Also, is that a Greddy T88 under the hood? Any comments on the response? I've heard that turbo is a very bipolar "nothing, and then everything" kinda turbo. With my HKS T51R the response isn't as good as my previous PT67 but it's still not as bad as some Supras I've been in. I have some power lower in the RPM range around 2000-4000 revs. But...all I can say is that all hell breaks loose once I get the revs up to around 5000rpm

Yep, well, mostly done anyways. Done enough to drive for now. I am just waiting on some nice weather around here then I fully intend to get some up. It's a GReddy T-78 33d. Faster response than a T-88, but yes, bipolar is a good word for it. I can be driving along, boost climbs, then all of a sudden the car drops a gear, the wheels are smoking, I'm sideways and have 15 lbs. of boost. I rode in a couple of skylines that have had the T51r in them. Unless it's the BB version, then spool up is pretty laggy, but up at the top, hold on because that turbo hits pretty hard. I think the T78 spools better than the T51, even though the T78 is larger. I have positive pressure as soon as I step on the gas, and by low 3's I am at full 15 psi all the way to redline.

I just looked up the specs. The T78 33D is a 66mm turbo, no wonder your response is pretty good. It's just like my old PT67 dual ball bearing turbo, I loved that turbo because it was so nice to drive around town. The HKS I have now is a freaking 73mm lol

A year and a half later. How is everything with the car? Any updates? How are you enjoying it so far?

Love it, love it, love it. I drove it for a year and some, drove the **** out of it and enjoyed every minute of it. Right now she's completely torn down. gutted the interior, pulled the engine. New interior stuff. Stereo, seats, steering wheel and roll cage. Doing an R154 5 speed swap, GS300 foot pedal to SC300 hand ebrake conversion, new wheels, new brakes, new turbo setup, new fuel, new Standalone engine management, The list goes on and on and on and on. . . .

Expecting our fourth child so money has slowed right down, so the progress on the car has as well. I'm taking plenty of pics and there will be updates along the way.

Thanks for looking!

Ryan

I really hate you! For the third time i read through this whole thread i am more and more eager to do the swap. So basically everything i need for about 400whp would be:

If i wanted to keep the stock twins. How much power could i get out of them?

1999 v300 aristo 2jz GTE engine,trans, ecu...etc
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JDM-2...ht_8351wt_1141
Or??
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JDM-2...#ht_9560wt_881
Intercooler, Custom piping
Injectors,Fuel pump, and return fuel lines
Would i even need engine management? Like HKS f con v pro?

Thanks for the help!

The more I read about these installs, and how much I've driven the GS today, the more jealous I get... the GS3 is silly slow.

hehe! sorry man, you would want the first motorset. The second motorset is for 1g gs's and supra's. A decent front mount, piping, fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, fuel lines and a few other misc items should get you to where you want to be. Vpro is awesome but your initial power levels do not warrant it.

Thanks again for the help. Im really excited to learn more and more about working on cars and i am excited for the day when i can do my own swap! Right now im just getting a good parts list down so i know EXACTLY what im going to need.

All i would need for this engine to run on stock twins would be the parts you have listed? Not to pry or beg to much, But how much do you think that would run in parts?
