Default Future Gs400 owner ?

I am seriously considering a 1998 to 2000 gs400. I have drove a couple, and loved them. I just never tired to see in power mode with TC off if it would spin on dry ground. The reason I want to know this is with that much power i would think it would have a traction issue. Also with other cars that i have drove with traction controll it seemed like it really slowed their 1/4 mile times down. Does it do the same or really make it faster? Just let me Know how most of you all get all she's got out of her.

i know you can spin them a tad in the rain (my friend turned the TC off and tried it). i also think it depends on what kind of tires you have and how much they grip, etc.

regarding your question about gettin the most power, that might be a question for the guys more performance-minded. hopefully they'll chime in. GL!

My tires have damn good grip in the back so I can't even spin it at all. Then again, I want my car to get traction anyways.

thats what im talking about grip. so if you floor it from a dead stop without Traction controll on on dry ground it wont spin.

No you might get a chirp depends how you push the gas pedal. And in the rain
idk about other Gs4 owners like the one that stated in the rain it barely spins, with me in the rain with TC on i can go side ways pretty easy with Pirelli p zero(spell*) pretty new to.

Wow the GS400 must be seriously underpowered compared to the GS430 then ... Cuz i turn on ECT Power, turn off VSC and drop it into 1st gear (L) and when I floor the pedal I'll sit there with my tires spinning. I've done it for a max of about 15 seconds then stopped because I don't want to completely wear out my tires.

-btw in the rain I can floor it with VSC ON and I'll still get sideways even tho it kills power to the wheels. I'd be scared to do it with VSC off ...

I wouldnt say its underpowerd they are prolly even give or take 10-20 lbtq, its just when its in 2nd gear M mode, the tires dont really spin maybe chirp. But i never tried the L thing will do it when i get out of work, But how does the L thing work only 1 gear? then you have to push it in 2?

Yea L is first gear, then you have to manually shift to 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and finally into D which is 5th. I usually only put it in first gear when I wanna spin my tires, or when I am racing (It's like shifting in manual except there is no clutch) ... I don't know if it's just me but I feel that i get a much bigger acceleration burst when I start out of first as opposed to D which starts in 2nd ...

Let me see if I got this right. If you have it in Drive It starts from a dead stop in 2nd with power mode on. That doesnt sound like you would get a good 1/4 time skipping first. What about if you have it in M manual on a gs400 will it start it 1 and shift to 2 when you use paddle shifters or does it start in 2 as well? Is the only way to start in 1 to put it in low 1?
