Question Cant make up my mind....Help!

If you had 25k to go out and purchase a GS right now what would you do? I am debating a 2000 GS400 or a 2001 GS300...I cant get things like NAV and HID on the GS300 for that price or I can get the GS400...Is the power/drive difference between the 2 that different? I love the idea of the V8 but I like the affordability of the 300...Plus with all the mods you guys have talked me into I gots to have some cash to spend...Anyone care to enlighten me...Im going to the lex from a honda so either would be a great step-up but I dont know which...power or features? thanks for the input! ~beau

Without a doubt I would go GS400 unless you were thinking of doing Forced Induction.

If you want a fast stock car that can be dependable, reliable, and look amazing with some mods, go for the 400.

Same for the 300 minus the power.

You can't really go wrong either way. This question has been asked many times. Use the search feature.

the GS4 is amazing in power compared to the GS3 if you want totbe confident on the streets and be able to smoke just about any one that isnt turbo charged then the GS4 is for you but if performance is not to high on you priority list then you can get the GS3 which looks just as good and will turn heads but dont have the go unless you turbo it !

Thumbs up

I say get a 400. Unless you plan on turbo charging the 300? You should be able to find one at a decent price. I would check Lexus.com site and look at their cpo lists in your local area. Good Luck!

beau...

u'r here in west palm, just slide on down 2 the blooddrag show this saturday, we will all b there and u can test soem gs3's and gs4's and c if its want u really need or want... if u'r not going 2 go turbo or supercharger than the gs4 is the way 2 go as far as stock power but if u have visions of wanting more power through forced induction than go 4 a nice 300, that way u spens less and money keft over 2 mod it right away....it all depends, come on down and we'll have a nice talk about it...

beau

Imo i say gs400 for better power delivery better trq and low end grunt however for tune ability do the gs 300 , its much easier to turbo a gs300 and get over 300 to the wheels in horsepower then to super charge the gs400 . you can do a stage 1or 2 type set up on the gs 300 and as needs increase swap out some minor parts dial up theboost and canbe in the 400+ range to the wheels easily the gs 400 supercherger will get you between 350 -390 but thats max , supercharging with whats out there is not very scalable as opposed to turbo charging

hope some of this helps and as bluelex suggested , meet up with us in west palm sat for blooddrag and blue can take you for a spin in his gs300 show quality car and i can take you for a spin in my gs4 monster

tahnks all for the help...ill definitely be at the drag...cant wait to meet all of you and represent WPB...wish i had my mex already but this will help my decision alot...really glad everyone here is so helpful...especially nice to have some locals to ride with...maybe we should start a car club and put it in big Old English letters on our windhields...but i think you have to have spinners or an 86 corolla to do that...anyways...thanks all again!

beau, like many others have said

stock- GS400

Forced induction- GS300!

The 400 is a great all around car with the right mods, and the 300 can be built into a BEAST without headaches, its all up to you man!!

Well I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say 300. I like mine and the way the car is balanced. I dont get to get on my car evertime I jump into it so for me the 400 was not the best fit. With that being said I do have some engine plans for the future......(just because I want to be different)

Like others have said just take a test drive in both and see what appeals to you best......

Go test drive both GS4 and GS3 and find out whether you will be happy with 80 less ponies in the I-6.

How about

1. getting a low priced, high mileage, GS 300, for about $16k,
2. buy these parts

2JZ Twin Turbo Motor $4500
HKS Carbon-Ti Exhaust $600
HKS Down Pipe $200
HKS EVC 5 Electronic Boost Controller $550
TEIN FLEX Flex $1400
19" Volk Racings/tires $3000
Veilside Body Kit $2400

3. Pay a shop about $3000 to install the parts

For less than $32k, you have a 400 hp HKS/VolkRacing'/Veilside/TEIN/Vertex Edition Aristo.

Why didn't I do this myself?

I know...cuz the desire for power does not stop at 400 hp. Let's go for 700 hp so it could run against the monster Supras! Project Aristo would be pushed to $45k. The car would always at the shop being modified and tuned.

To make it simple, I wish I would have gotten a GS 400, instead of my 300. Go for the the 400, bro!
