Default Removing Those Emblems

I got a silver GS with the black pearl emblems in the back and I'm planning on getting rid of those and putting on the chrome emblems instead. Suggestions on this change is welcome. As always, I did a search first and got some results including this one: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...moving+emblems
That guys experience somewhat worries me but I MUST STAY FOCUSED!
I understand the purpose of the blue painters tape. As for the fishing line, is it used to cut through the adhesive in a left to right motion to remove the old emblems? I guess the fishing line is something that I can pickup at Walmart right or no?

Dental floss works well also.

Just make sure you heat it up a lil bit with a hair dryer or similar.
Run through the dental floss or fishing line through it slowly.
Take off resudual sticky with goo gone. (let it soak for about 5 mins)
Use your finger nails as you dont want it to scratch the car.

Thats the way I do it..

When I put on my black pearl emblems it was really easy to take off my old emblems. I masked the borders of the original emblems with blue painters tape. Then I used a blow dryer to heat the emblem and loosen the adhesive. After that I just worked through the adhesive with dental floss. It cut through it like butter. Then I rubbed off as much adhesive as I could with my fingers. Then use goo-gone to remove the rest of the adhesive. This method works better as the goo-gone doesn't get as messy.

I got my hands on the fishing line and I'll save this project for next weekend. Right now I'm just admiring the the trace of snow that we have so far and still wishing for more to test the my GS in. Hope to post pics of my project. If I don't then you'll know that I messed up. Later.

My only advice is to be very patient.
I removed all my rear emblems last weekend and I didn’t wait long enough with the hair dryer on the GS400 emblem because as I maneuvered the fishing line, then pulled off the emblem, small chips of paint came off with it.

You might not have to tape off where the logos where, since the paint is older there should be fading in which you can just match up the new logos where the old one where.

Hopefully you get those emblems off. Hey can I buy those black pearl emblems from you? I need a pair...only need the 'L' from the front grill and the rear 'L'.
Thanks.!!!

don't forget to use blue tape to precisely outline the old emblems placing before you take them off.

I changed mine from gold to chrome and it came out fine.

Depending on where you live, the condition of the paint job and it's age ect....The emblems will leave outlines when removed due to fading or whatever and you wont wanna be badgeless. I helped my friend do his black landcruiser and this was the case. On the other hand, if you can get them off cleanly bc Im sure silver would hide the fade better I would condsider having no emblems. This look is starting to appeal to me.

I just ripped 'em off, rubbed off the glue as best I could, wet sanded the emblem outlines, & buffed the scratches out. And if you're trying to get rid of the front black pearl grille emblem, let me know
