Default Question about installing new emblems / badges

Before I get flamed...yes I have searched. I've searched for "installing emblems", "installing badges", "badges" (by itself) and "emblems" (by itself) in the title and there numerous threads on debadging but only a couple on installing and they don't answer my questions.

Somebody ripped off my black pearl emblems off my GS300 SportDesign while I was in the movies. I LOVE THE CRIMINALS IN NYC!!!! I have to remove what's left of the old ones which includes removing some of the adhesive left over from when they pryed off the original ones. I have a set of new black pearl emblems to install and here's what I want to know.

1) Besides polishing and cleaning the area where I removed the old emblems, do I need to do anything else to the surface?
2) How long should I apply pressure on the emblems after I attach it to the trunk? Does it even matter?

Thanks in advance.

you should use goo gone to remove all of the adhesive ...then wax, polish and buff

as far as preasure just put on the emblem and make sure it sits in the sun the heat will make sure it bonds well

thats all that I can think of

Forgive my ignorance. So I wax then polish and then buff the area (in that order)? I don't really detail my car that often other than wax my car every once in a while. (Yes, I know that's bad). I'm going to have the area marked with masking tape so I know where to put the new emblems so I want to make sure I do this the right way.

when I rebadged, I had better luck rubbing the adhesive off with my finger than with the goo gone. The goo gone just smeared it around and actually made more work.

That adhesive on the new emblems is like a sticker, no need to keep pressure on it, that glue is strong. just make sure it's straight and stick it on.

If you use goo gone chances are you are going to have to make 2 or more passes with it. I would lightly wax the area in between applications of the goo gone, just to make sure there is no damage to the paint.

i know this is an older post, but great info. i just bought a VVTi emblem and was wondering how to put it on the car. it happens to be sunny right now, so i think i'll prep the car and stick it on.

I would highly suggest using every other method before putting a power washer to your car, at least some insane amount of psi anyway.
