Lighting Clarification
I've noticed that there seems to be some confusion as to which light the DRL's actually are. Yes, they're in the wedge assembly but they AREN't the bottom/inside bulb that everyone's changing to a Polarg M4 or M6 ( for a whiter/brighter light ). Those are the parking lights. The DRL's are the high beam which are wired into a series load so that they get roughly half the voltage of the regular high beams. This said, U can put the brightest bulb that PIAA; Polarg or anyone else makes in there & it still won't be any whiter/brighter. I know - I changed mine to PIAA 9005's & while the highs are sweet, it's the same old dingy yellow daytime running light look!!
This isn't to trash great instructive posts like Dexter put up a few weeks ago but to try to get us all on the same page. Maybe someone like Percy or another Electronics guru ( yeah, maybe even me!
) can get into the wiring & discover a way to bypass the wiring in series. Only problem there is that U'd be running the high beams at full candlepower as DRL's - maybe stick a resistor inline?

Exactly
my write up is for my 98, which had wedge bulbs in the high beam housing and are activated by 1 turn of the light stalk
my 'parking' lights that I use as 'DRLs' are polarg M6s, and the light is much briger than the yello/brown dingy of 98 OEMs

I want my wedge bulb to be brighter, these are the ones that come on when you have your headlights on at night. These are also the bulbs that are in the same housing, toward the bottom if I am not mistaken.
Let me reiterate in case there are any confusions, and please let me know if I am wrong. The lights that come on at NIGHT time when you have your headlights on, how do you make them brighter? what bulb is best?
I don't care about the DRL, or the daytime ones, i know they are the high beam running at low voltage.

The polarg's M6 is the brightest you can get that is still in the "safety zone" in terms of not burning the harness wirings. If you go any brighter you risk damage. I have these on for almost a year, and so far so good (knock on wood). Much better than the 'yellowish' looking bulb.

Globe - I broke one of the M6's way before Dexter posted his excellent how-to & I just stuck a piece of chewed gum on the end on a coat hangar & stuck it thru the bulb opening.
BTW & FWIW - I've had the M6's for almost 2 years ( from the old Board ) & haven't done any damage to either wiring harness.
Lex - Try the Polarg M6 or if U're a bit concerned about frying the harness ( as Diesel, Dex & myself can attest - the M6 is great ), just go down to the M4 that some of our other Members R using. The best price I found for the M6 was $7.99/each from www.nextcollections.com.

Correct, the 98'(non HID) has no driving light feature, it only has the wedge bulb that can double as one if you choose to turn it on....Tiny

I've read that on other multiple occasions by other members.

Tiny – The DRLs came on the ’99 GS – they’re shown as a change from previous year in Lexus’ literature - but not on my ’99?? I checked with the parts Mgr at Sewell and found that DRLs were a mid-model year change – mine was mfg before the lights became standard. That’s my story an I’m stickin to it.
