Default Clarification on DRL's 3GS

So I replaced my low beams with 6k Garax and could not be more pleased. Obviously the DRL's don't match. I am under the the knowledge there is a bulb there sticking out of the top corner of the headlights(highs). There's also a 9005 bulb that's used for the high beams.

I have seen people refer to the DRL's being run on the highs at a lower wattage.

What I can see is the high beam bulbs (9005's) are not on unless you turn the brights on. However the smaller wedge bulb is always on.

If uninstall the wedge bulb completely will this cause any issues/codes? I'd much rather just not have the extra light there completely and still keep usuage of my high beams.

I have also heard if you replace those wedge bulbs with LED's you run into issues because of varying power being sent to them?

Can someone clarify for me please? Thanks!

Looking at the inner light there are 2 bulbs. The one in the middle is your DRL/highbeam and the one in the corner is your parking light. The DRL is the highbeam just at 50% wattage. You can easily replace the parking light to LED, you are confusing it with the DRL. And you can also take out the parking light no problem, no codes or anything. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the explanation. I was unclear on that too.

The parking light is the one that is on when your low-beam is on. So if you want to match both lenses while your low beam is on, then you want to change your parking light. A Putco 360 White LED or a VLED 6000K 194, or a PIAA 6000K Tera Evolution 194 LED will all be good matches. I'm not saying this from experience but based on what others have posted here. I bought the Putcos and am putting them in this week.

OK guys here is my problem. Any guidance would be most appreciated.

I want all of my lights to match ... fogs, parking, highs and lows.

I installed 6k HID fogs ... look and function perfectly. 1 down.

I installed 6k HID high/DRL's ... high beams look and function perfectly. BUT in DRL mode (highs off, lows off) the HIDs flicker because they only run correctly at full power. So, the question is how do I stop this flickering and get 6k from the DRL? Seems like killing the DRL and putting in 6k LEDs in the parking lights would do the trick, but I know DRLs are a pain to get turned off at the dealer, and I know of no DIY that can do it.

Any ideas?
