Woke up this morning, with my first day of work after getting my D1 unit with NacTraffic. Plugged in my work address and checked out the monitor.
Holy sh.it!!
This thing plugged in the perfect route for me and got me around the traffic. It tells you the current speed of each major road (plus changes the color of the road....40+ MPH Green, 20-40MPH Yellow, 20 or less Red) and you can view any traffic conditions from any part of your route.

Click "current conditions" and it will list any traffic situations from Accidents to Road Work and give you all the info, while updating itself every 5 minutes from the XM satellite.

While I was driving the navigation lady came on the speakers and says "Slow traffic ahead in 1 mile, would you like to remap your route?"
You click YES or NO, and if you click YES, BAM, 3 seconds later you got a new faster route.

I must say this thing is amazing and worth the $200 for the unit and $3 a month extra for the service.
A must have addition to any AVIC-D1 units or any other HU's that support it.

I was at Sema last year when Pioneer was introducing that technology for their units. They had it hooked up so you can see the traffic around the Las Vegas Convention center.. I was so amazed...

Sounds awesome.

Does anyone know if this is supported through other brand NAV units?

I know Atlanta and Boston are really good in terms of the service. Updating every 5 minutes is pretty damn good......Haven't heard about the quality of service anywhere else.

Here is the XM link that gives you all the info you will need.

Yeah, I can wait until Lexus offers this a factory option. Would be a great option for the nasty traffic conditions here in So. Cal.

Too bad we don't have a service like that.

I have the newest avic-n2. Is there anyway to by pass the dvd play? Meaning, to play dvd's while in motion. I was also thining about getting that add on, now you confirmed it. Hope it works as well in this area(VA) as in yours. You said $3p/m. It's 9.99 out here, wonder why.

There are some bypass circuitry switches that you can buy. Try searching ebay or goole? Or some A/V forums dedicated to your brand. We managed to bypass the moving dvd protection on my friends Alpine IVA-D300 with some switchbox thing he got off ebay.

BTW: It's illegal to have dvds playing where its visible to the driver when car is moving. So if a cop nab's you its a pretty good sized ticket. At least according to what happened to my friend....lol

Good luck and be safe!

Well its $2.99 month if you add it on to your existing XM service......My brother has the 2 yr. plan, so I add on as the family plan for $6.95 for XM and then $2.99 for Traffic.

.If you want just the navtraffic maybe its $9.99, not sure.

I think their customer service is outsourced somewhere, because the 3 times I called in, I couldn't understand what the hell they were saying......its not India, but somewhere that has trouble speaking fluent english.
