Default XM Traffic - huge disaster!

I just got my LS460L a month ago after selling my 2003 BMW 745i. I can't be happier! This is an awesome car in every single way, except for one - the XM Traffic updates on the navigation map. What a piece of crap that is. It is almost never right! It shows slow traffic when there is nobody on the road and shows no traffic ( green ) at the traffic jams.

Is anybody else having this much disappointment with their XM traffic?

I've had decent success with it around the DC beltway. It's far from 100% accurate, but I'll keep using it in hopes that it continues to become more accurate.

Agreed .. XM traffic and APGS are more marketing bling than useful.

Still an amazing piece of technology, though ...

How accurate is Acura's nav-traffic system?

Is it the same as for the LS?

The difference with the LS system is it is among the first to market with dynamic rerouting, which previous systems did not have.

I've found it to be very accurate so far.

I am surprised you did not complain about all the Nav stuff locked out. That is worse than the crappy traffic stuff.

Traffic nav system is only as good as the data it gets which probably varies around the country.

Actually I rarely need to enter the address BEFORE I'm in motion. My 2006 GS300 has a hack that enables it and I have yet to use it.

I have used the XM traffic feature twice now during a 50 mile commute in Los Angeles and have found it to be very accurate during both trips. In one case it rerouted me around heavy traffic using a route I did not even know existed, and I got home much faster than I normally would. So I would have to say I am impressed so far, although my experience with it is very limited.

Default Previously owned an acura with navtraffic

I had just sold my 2006 Acura RL with NAV traffic and I feel that the LS460 nav traffic has better icons and is just as acurate so far. I owned the RL for about 10 months .... I live in Las Vegas ... we don't have the traffic flow yet but it does show construction and accidents

Doesn't it also depend on how many XM NavTraffic 'monitor stations' there are or something? When I tested the system, albeit briefly, it supposedly updated every 3 minutes...

I just went through a road where construction seems to be going on for a while and there was no construction icon. Also two "slow traffic" icons were completely wrong - the traffic was just fine.
