Default Please Help A/C Question

I have posted before about a problem I had with my 98 GS400 A/C not blowing cold and having a bad smell.

I cleaned my A/C filter and the smell problem has become better and Lexus recharged my A/C

NEW PROBLEM with the center A/C vents above the radio:

The drivers center vent will blow hot or cold but, the passenger center vent will NOT blow cold only non- cooled and hot. Can anyone help me? What is going on with my car. I am really sick of going to Lexus and paying out the A$$ for things.

I have a feeling that Im going to be the only person that this has happend to.

Thanks,
Chris

My 98 gs300 is doing the same thing. Both my driver side and passenger side are blowing hot air. I have not had a chance to take it to the dealership. I am going to go tomorrow and have them take a look at it. I cant sell my car to someone of the air isnt going to work. If you find out anything on yours let me know . I am pretty positive we have the same problem. I too checked my ac filter and it is still blowing hot air.

If all of your A/C vents are blowing warm air then I'll bet the dealer tells you that you have an A/C leak behind the dash and the parts and labor will be around $1600-$2000. I hope thats not the case for you.

The new problem that Im having with the tempature difference between the A/C vents makes me wonder if there isnt a sensor or something that has gone bad.

I have read posts from people that expect to get 200,000 miles out of their GS. I know that when I bought mine I wanted to keep it for along time but these A/C bugs are making me crazy.

Im just venting, I hate to spend good money on something that I think has prematurely failed. My car only has 74K this cant be the norm for the GS.

I got mine fixed today. All I needed was a recharge on freon. I am so happy I could sh#t myself. If I would of had to fork out 1600 to 2k I would ran the car into a brick wall. The air is nice and cold.

If I were you I would take your car to an independent shop and have them take a look. I got to see how they check for a leak and it appears to be quite simple. They shot mine with dye to seeif ther were any leaks. They checked with a black light to see if their was ay leak . Turned out I just needed freon. I wish you luck with your Lexus. I cant get away from mine fast enough.

the Vent actuator (motor) is stuck on hot side. Thus, you can either blow regular air or hot only.
You will need to locate and replace the motor that control the valve window for this vent.

I have a similar problem and the dealer has been unable to solve it. Innitialy from cold both vents are blowing hot but after that the driver side gets cold and the passenger side blows still warm.
Do you think it is also the vent actuator motor or are there some sensors involved??

Thank you BananaGS

Do you know where I can get a diagram of the vent actuator area? I have removed my glove box and can get to the blower but, I am thinking that I will need to remove my radio to get to the actuator area.

Thanks again,
Chris

ditto! any update on a solution to this problem? drivers side is cold, pass side is warm/hot....

i dont think i need freon, cuz drivers side is pretty cold....otherwise, if i needed it, no air would be cold correct?
