Haven't used my Lexus app in a long time and never remember accepting the Master Data Consent. Opened up now the updated Lexus app and first thing it does is ask for the consent so it must be something new since 2020. Ok looking into this since I have left subscriptions expire is the 10 year service connect is still active. As I see it the only advantage is vehicle health report and reminders in app which I never view anymore. I never use the fob remote start and don't know if I decline if that feature will work or not. Great upside here is if I do decline battery life will improve. I could always turn this back on if needed by accepting. Wish I had looked into this earlier. Thanks grp52 for the research you do in helping this forum.

I don't recall seeing the Lexus web site's CONNECTED SERVICES AND YOUR PRIVACY version including the "Master Data Consent" verbiage until fairly recently. But, I see a Lexus app "Master Data Consent" accept/decline screen in Northside Lexus's Melissa O'Connell's January 11, 2022 "How to Link Your Lexus Interface Profile in your Lexus - 2022 Lexus NX Featured" video at around the 3:10 time mark:
So, it looks like the "Master Data Consent" accept/decline procedure started around the time the "new" Lexus Interface system entered production vehicle usage. Prior to that, IIRC, the opting out language had a phone number to call or a snail mail address to send the opt-out request to. (You can find previous versions of the privacy notice connected services document with the Internet Archive Wayback Machine but I haven't gone to the trouble of figuring out with which dated archived version the "Master Data Consent" language change was made.)

I wouldn't count on much, if any, improvement in battery life. Since you aren't using the Lexus app to query/remote operate your ES, even with data transmission enabled only a brief data update transmission shortly after powering off the ES will be done before the DCM goes into a minimal power consuming sleep powered down state.

I'm not certain about it but that might require a trip to the dealer's service department for a physical connection to command the DCM to turn on the transmitter/receiver electronics. Seems to me shutting off DCM data transmission means just that- no data transmission functioning available for externally transmitting a data command to the DCM to turn data transmission back on.

I

I see it in app after I declined and looks like it can be turned back on there. For battery life I will monitor amperage later for the spikes that happen every 10 seconds or so. Even without subscriptions it transmits health report and location data. But the master decline is supposed to stop all. Health report is also on web so app has nothing to do with that. I can confirm the fob remote start does not work but don't use anyway. Going to put that in different thread so others can read outside of this oil thread.
