Default TPMS Problem

Using techstream the TPMS ECU is not present. Anybody have suggestions?? Used car with two new tires installed on front. Light consistently flashing as soon as car is started. Car is under warranty however if there is damage to front tire sensors its not warranted. Afraid to go to Lexus and have a $1200 svc bill.

Since the car is still under warranty, I'd bring it in and have them check it out. They shouldn't charge you, and it may just be a quick reset with the ecu on their part.

I spoke with the svc. dept and they said if the sensors were damaged when the tires were replaced you will be charged. The problem I see that when I use tis techstream software to check if the sensors are registered that particular computer is not present or maybe I should say missing. All other computers in the car appear.

I've never had to have the sensors re-registered or replaced, and I could be wrong, but I think that most tire dealers should be able to service the TPMS, diagnose problems, make sure that the sensors are registered, or even replace sensors, and I'm sure that the cost of doing so would be a lot lower than it would be if the work was done at a Lexus dealer.

A weird situation here. The lexus dealer was arrogant and not helpful at all. Nobody can check the sensors because the techstrean software says there is no tpms computer, its missing or broken. If its broken lexus wiil repair under warranty. If its missing someone stole it prior to me buying the car which i think is unlikely, however i have a missing key which i believe is floating around ebay somewhere. I can program a new key but still cost 200.00. The car is absolutely beautiful but why no tmps computer? Thanks walt

Problem solved, or at least one thing discovered. Last night I plugged in Techstream and my TPMS computer was discovered. What it says is the tire pressure sensor in 4th tire is bad. All others have live pressures, I checked by letting air out of each tire and in doing so I determined which tire was the fourth tire, with the bad sensor. It also was one of the two new tires installed on the car when I purchased the vehicle, surprise. Now I'll get a sensor have it installed and Ill register it myself. Thanks

The place that installed your tires should be footing the bill. Where did you get them installed?

Your right whoever put the tire on should fix what he damaged; however, I purchased the car used through a friend at auction before it went through the auction. It was a lease vehicle and perfect condition except for the TPMS. It all makes sense Thanks Walt
