Our 2002 ES300 drivers door won't open from the outside or the inside handles, the door locks and unlocks from the key remote, the door cylinder and the door lock switch. But we can't open the drivers door only!
my wife took our two teenagers to a store and I guess she left them in the car with the factory alarm armed and doors locked, they must of opened or unlocked one of the doors because the alarm went off. That's when this problem occurred. So I don't believe this is mechanical, as with any of the interior door parts. So I'm wondering if any type of programming of the factory alarm needs to be redone. Any help would be appreciated!
Can I take off the door panel without opening the door? Remember the door won't open. I'm just wondering if I can get to all the screws and then be able to slide the panel up with the door shut. (sorry I don't have the car with me right now)
dont forget once you get the door panel detached, make sure you unplug the wiring harness for the window controls, lock, and door lighting before trying to completely remove the panel. ensures you dont f up the controls or harnesses!
There is no way I can take off the drivers door panel with the door stuck closed. Yesterday I took off the passengers door to see how the mechanism might work and if I would be able to get to the drivers side mechanism without the door being open. No way! ... so now I'm contemplating taking it to the Lexus dealer. Not sure what they will do or charge.
The door release mechanism seems to be in a sealed black plastic enclosure with the interior door handle rod going into it, but I can't see where the outside door handle release is connected to this enclosure.
I thought of that, but that would only unlock the door. The door can be locked or unlocked, that's not the problem. The door won't OPEN. I'm crawling through the passengers seat over the shifter to the drivers seat to drive the car. The power window will roll down, and that's why I took off the passengers door panel to see if there was any linkage that I could access that would open the door (it would look the same as the inside of the drivers door). But I couldn't find anything.
Any other suggestions?
any luck getting the door open? Mine just started haveing the similar issue, the driver door is stuck in the lock possition, so I can not open the door... 1992 with 200,800 miles. It has been a good car. But climbing in and out the passenger door is getting old....! Please let me know if you got yours working.
I had to take mine to toyota as the latch / lock mechanism failed on mine and I didn't want to damage the door panel... cost was 600 bucks parts and labor but got a free rental car
I have a 94 Es300 with a good key and battery. Put the key in the drivers side and it opens the 2 back doors but not the 2 front doors - both front doors open from the inside so the door rod openers must be working.
Remote does not open any doors but with new battery. When front doors are open or when closed door latches feel locked but can be opened from the inside. Any help would be appreciated.
There is a small plastic clip that joins the metal rod to the door handle mechanism inside the door - lexus calls it a snap.-part # 69293-12060 for drivers door and part# 69293-12050 for passenger door. Doors won't open becuz rod is not connected -you will probably find half of the broken clip at the bottom of the door and the other half in the hole that it fits into the door handle mechanism once you get the door panel off and the metal cover plate. You will need a flashlight and a few yoga moves to see where it all connects. Word of advice - pull broken plastic clip from
door handle mechanism inside top of door with needlenose pliers . Put new snap in hole with pliers once again - make sure its the correct clip because they different for each door - its guite a stretch to do - then push metal rod into clip thats in the hole and then turn clip a quarter turn to lock rod in place.
