Passanger Door wont open
My passager door wont open from the inside or out.. the lock button wont fully lock maybe half way and it seems like the door is locked or it wont fully unlatch... can you give me any ideas how to fix it or take the door panel off while the door is closed... thanks
i was on a cross country trip and the drivers door broke in Albuquerque, i live in so-cal. Had to dukes of hazzard it every time i wanted out.
I had to tear the top of the door off and then the bottom.

There is, as I recall, a metal cable from the door handle to the lock. You separate the door handle from that cable and thereby from the lock and then open the door.
I called AAA for a lock-out service. They slim-jimmed the door lock. I got the panel off from the inside without damaging it but, crumbs, I did not take pictures. The statement above is what I recall doing but that could have been on something else. Anyone have the parts diagram?

i had to reach way back in the back and pop it out of the door lock mechanism to open it. once it's open you can re assemble ****. and order new yellow door lock rod clips from toyota too. if you bend the rod, you might be SOL.
I dont want to make a new thread so I thought I would ask.
Has anyone made the exterior door lock work without the rod? My pass. side is missing the rod and its getting annoying having to lean over each time for a pass. to come in.
